Columbus. Jones is still a solid top pair defenseman. Cirelli is good, but Johnson and his contract are terrible. That's a big win for Tampa.

Tampa says no. That's poor asset management giving up Cirelli to rent Jones for one year.

Jones would be an incredible acquisition for Tampa. Cirelli would be a great acquisition for Columbus as he would be their #2 Centre for years to come. It doesn't solve their immediate need but it does help. Taking the Johnson contract without any added prospects or pieces is not smart.

I think in the end Columbus says no.

Both do. CBJ doesn't get the right type of assets and the deal doesn't make enough sense for TBL, even with getting rid of the TJ contract

As a CBJ fan I take that all day, but Tampa says no. Cirelli is a REALLY good player and elite defensively. He’d be a great fit but I highly doubt TB is willing to part with him.
