  4. Zegras, Trevor
  5. 2021 1st round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
This is a lot to give up if your the Ducks, but by taking on Kesler's contract helps offset some of Eichel's contract while giving them extra cap space. Buffalo can kick back their second this year (first pick of the second round), a fourth, and Tage Thompson as a depth scoring winger.

  1. Hughes, Jack
  2. Wood, Miles
  3. 2021 1st round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
This is a big swing, but hear me out. After moving Eichel, the Sabres should want to find a young center to take his spot. While the Devils would not want to really move on from a player like Hughes, the Sabres have enough to make a case for a return. Flipping Zegras will give the Devils a young, playmaking center to be a 1 or 2 with Hischier. In addition, the Devils will get Risto, who they are reportedly after. Add Bryson as a young defensive prospect and you have a decent return from the player standpoint. I would then give the Devils the first pick to move back to the fourth pick, plus Florida's third this year and the Sabres third next year (could be a second if Risto resigns). New Jersey can then go up and select whomever they like or flip the pick for a player. Wood is a player who I love and would bring some physicality to the Sabres, plus he was born in Buffalo.

We’ll keep Kessler since 80% is covered by insurance LOL. You aren’t really helping. Also ducks don’t need cap help. Being in a rebuild it’s ok to have contracts like that.
Eichel isn’t getting Zegras or Drysdale. The third overall will be the big piece if it happens, but knowing the ducks this is all smoke and mirrors then nothing will end up happening.

To be honest I think the devils accept. They got first overal and zegras which is probably what they need. They might be reluctant to get rid of basically to Hughes brothers in the same trade.

So instead of having Comtois - Zegras - Perreault as our first line, we would have Spear Carrier - Eichel - Spear Carrier, plus we exchange the third overall pick in this draft for Tage Thompson and the 32nd overall selection. Meanwhile, you would go from a team with Eichel, Reinhart (however long he lasts), Cozens and nobody else of note (Dahlin and Drysdale cancel out) to a team with Cozens, Zegras, Comtois, Perreault and the player taken third. (Owen Power or Matt Beniers is going to be on your team either way.)

Now that I phrase it as objectively as I can, does that sound like a good deal for Anaheim?

Not a chance. Hughes has far more upside than Zegras vs even what Powers will have over the defender at #4. Makes no sense.
