Realistic Fleury Trade

Description
Blues are struggling and goaltending is a major problem. They just made a coaching change and are going to want to make the playoffs, so I can see them trying to upgrade.

This move is almost unilateral in cap after this year (I think Fleury will make just around a million more than Allen with the extension). St. Louis upgrades their goaltending with the only cost of moving down a round in the draft.

Pens get out of Fleury's NMC and get a netminder they can expose to Vegas, and move up slightly in the draft doing so.

Probably the best deal for Fleury I've seen - surprised you didn't try to squeeze a Shatty and Maatta swap in there too like I've seen on here (jk!). It's a shame that the expansion draft is going to be the reason Fleury doesn't finish his career in PIT. Unless he goes back in two years!

With Tristan Jarry in the AHL, why trade Fleury for another goalie? It's not needed IMO. I like the 2nd round pick....I guess it would be nice to have a vet as a backup.

Because no team that currently needs a goalie is going to take all of Fleury's cap hit without sending some goalie cap back.

He likely would have been gone anyways. Murray is clearly the goalie of the future in PIT and it wouldn't be ideal to keep a 5.75 mil netminder playing as a backup even without the expansion.

Allen wouldn't be ideal either (his extension is at over $4), but the Pens could look into moving him after the expansion as well.

This looks like a likely trade scenario if the blues goaltending doesn't improve.
