Because of how far the Habs have gotten this year with Danault playing a big role, I wonder if Danault and his agent will ask GM Marc Bergevin to revisit the 5 million x 6 extension that was allegedly offered to him last year.

It could very easily be the minimum that Danault is willing to sign for in the offseason.

As much as I want a Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup for the first time in almost 30 years, always remember this:

        1. There are 7 Canadian teams and 24/25 American teams. There should be absolutely no surprise that Canadian teams face really long odds in the playoffs.

        2. A more important question should be why Canada's best players often decide to play for American-based teams instead of those based in Canada.

        3. I really want the Habs to hoist the cup, even though they have 24 already from past decades.

        4. But I also recognize that the NHL rules for LTIR have allowed Tampa to exceed the salary cap by close to 20 million without penalty. I also find it to be extremely lucky and convenient that Nikita Kucherov is placed on LTIR for the entire regular season because of a Hip Surgery in December. Then, he comes back right for the start of the playoffs when the salary cap doesn't apply anymore. If anything, the timing couldn't be more perfect for Tampa.

        5. Throughout the playoffs, I have made posts about what the lineups and special teams should be when a team is on the brink of elimination, including when Montreal was on the brink against Toronto.

        6. If Montreal is put on the brink against Tampa, I'll be doing the same thing. In the event that Tampa is the team put on the brink by Montreal instead, then it will be the Lightning that will carry the burden of a "brink of elimination" post.

        7. Best of Luck :D

        Good post
Tho Bernier is resigning with DET after the Expansion Draft & Perry doesn’t care about the money, give up 750K
Lehky qualifying offer is 2.4M, so I guess for a 1 year deal it’s gonna be the same caphit

        Thanks.

FYI, Lehky's QO is 2.2 million.

Also, Perry is now signed to 750K while the Habs sign Mike Smith from the Oilers as their backup.

Well spoken. When I started watching hockey seriously the Wings sucked so I rooted for Montreal (loved the tradition and dominance) and Vancouver (who could resist those black, yellow and red uniforms) when the playoffs started. Watching the 86 Habs make that Cup run is still one of my favorite hockey memories not involving Detroit. Love Ryan Walter!
