Huge Moves

Description
Huge Moves to bring some speed and skill to the line-up.

Trade 1: Dunn and Kostin could be useful on Arizona. I think they will lose most of their defensemen this offseason. Dunn and Soderstrom long-term sounds deadly. Kostin can fulfill an NHL spot this season. Blues add Garland with the speed and skill to pair with O'Reilly and Perron's connection.

Trade 2: Blues trade Sanford and a 3rd for Seattle's selection of Scandella. Sanford is a 3rd line LW and the 3rd round pick adds leverage. This trade needs to be greater in value than Sundqvist, Blais, or Barbashev. Blues would protect Garland, ROR, Perron, Schenn, Senko, Thomas, Kyrou, Parayko, Krug, Faulk, Binnington.

Trade 3: Saw this trade from a Leafs fan, so don't blame me for the inspiration. Schenn would be the PP, net present guy the Leafs are looking for, and adds some chippiness. Reilly would join the Blues post expansion draft, be a great pairing with Parayko (especially if they can sign the two for a 6 x 6 extension). Kerfoot would allow the Leafs to save 2M on the trade.

Trade 4: Virtually there for a depth trade, adds some picks for STL

Signing Armia adds that 3rd line depth and speed on the right side. I enjoyed watching him play in the playoffs this postseason.

Blues draft Nikita Chibrokov at #16. The last time they drafted a Russian RW at 16th overall, it was Tarasenko. Maybe this magic continues with this selection, but let's not have 3 shoulder surgeries.

I feel like the Leafs would be willing to do that trade, even if some of Schenn's term scares me a bit. I'd love to see if the Leafs could add Dunn if they're moving Rielly, he has a similar type game and would give them some insurance in case their top rookie Sandin isn't 100% ready.

Would the Blues want Rielly? He plays similar styles to Faulk and Krug. It feels like with these trades St. Louis goes from a tougher D to a more puck-moving offensively focused D. I don't have a problem with that, but it seems to be a big philosophy change for a team that won a cup very recently.

Really good points. I think it was evident in the Colorado series that the heavy hitting style of play can't keep up with the speed of the best teams in the league. I think having a solid, persistent forecheck should be the route the Blues go. I think adding better movement on the back-end would really help the Blues especially facing turnovers in their own zone.

Really? What do you think he costs? I think Dunn would virtually fit right into a Top 4 D spot in ARI. I mean the guy is 24 so he would be in the teams control. The trade is virtually a really good 2nd round pick and a question mark 1st rounder. Regardless of what the people say about Dunn and him being protected, you can't say he isn't a good player with a tremendous upside to his game.

The Blues could not trade for Rielly under this scenario unless it came after the expansion draft, they don't have enough D protection spots as is.

Yes, I did mention that in the timeline. Trades would go Dunn - Scandella - Schenn in chronological order.

No worries at all. I should have made it more clear. What do you think of the team though?
