Trades
1.
2.
BUF
  1. Quick, Jonathan
  2. Turcotte, Alex
  3. Vilardi, Gabriel
  4. 2021 1st round pick (LAK)
  5. 2022 2nd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Send Buffalo a top center prospect, a young middle 6 player, picks, and Quick to help balance money.
LAK
  1. Eichel, Jack
  2. Samuelsson, Mattias
Additional Details:
Buffalo sends Samuelsson to give LA a big physical LD prospect just about ready to go full time in the NHL to balance value. He becomes expendable when the Sabres draft Owen Power at #1, locking up the top 2 LD spots in Buffalo for years.
3.
BUF
  1. Johansen, Ryan
Additional Details:
They loose a good veteran center but, gain much needed cap space and a couple picks.
NSH
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (BOS)
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
2022 3rd becomes a 2nd if Buffalo makes the playoffs in 22.

Buffalo gets a veteran presence to rotate with Cozens at #1C and help teach the younger players for a few years. Cap hit is high but Buffalo should not need the space for a few years with so many entry level deals on the team. Not sure how much picks need to be adjusted as I’m uncertain of Johansen’s value.
4.
BUF
  1. Compher, J.T.
  2. Kaut, Martin
  3. 2021 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Buffalo gets more pieces to rebuild with and middle 6 roster player at a position of need RW/C.
COL
  1. Reinhart, Sam [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
2C/RW to hold down the spot while Newhook develops.

Overpay for Eichel, even with Samuelsson, but I'm used to that . . . but a HIDEOUS overpay for Reinhart, from a team who probably can't afford him anyway, with Makar and others to sign.

Is it really? I don't think Avs do this with all the rumors around Makar and needing to make things fit, but based on recent value I think it's fair. Compher has been a 3.5m fourth-liner last season--he effectively is a wash when considering the cap relief vs production. Kaut has looked good, but a late 1st + B prospect seems a touch light for Rino... so even if you think Compher holds some value, that kinda evens the scales.

And I think that a late first, a B prospect and a very useful third-liner is a lot to pay for one year of Sam Reinhart. Regardless, Colorado has $25.5 million to spend on filling 10 -- count 'em, 10 -- roster slots, including Cale Makar (there goes about a third of the $$), a #1 goalie (there goes at least a sixth of it), and Gabriel Landeskog or Brandon Saad (whomever they can afford). To put it another way, Colorado has control over whether they can re-sign Landeskog or Saad and for how long; they have no control over whether or for how long that they can re-sign Reinhart. In short, I cannot see a savvy GM like Joe Sakic having any interest in Reinhart at any price.

Just because the top 2 LHD are "locked up" doesn't mean a good prospect like Samuelsson is expendable. I really like him and he was playing great for the handful of games he got. Very underwhelming return for Reinhart. Compher is a bottom 6 player, Kaut is a B prospect, and the 1st is meh. No point in trading him unless you get a really good prospect or high pick
