Sharks should trade Hertl to my favorite team

Description
I have seen his name floated a bit but would not be surprised if nothing happens and the Sharks try to re-sign him. However, I think he'd be an amazing fit for the Avs and potentially put them over the top. Thus, I'm giving it a go.

I had a really tough time valuing Hertl with the pieces available (pretending I knew what was in Sakic's head), so go easy on me. Posting to see what others think and if there is any way he is even moved.

Note the following: (1) I hate, hate, hate losing Barron, as I think he was a steal and will be a stud for a long time to come, but it could be worth it for this guy (especially if they get him at a lower salary for one big go for it type year). (2) I don't think Newhook or Byram are on the table for damn near anyone, so I tried to make it happen without them. (3) I would only do something like this if Hertl extends. Barron plus is not on the table for a rental (if at all).

Also interested in what folks think of the Edmonton trade. I like Tullio as an intermediate bet to become a good bottom six player, but there is obviously some risk there. Oilers add to their depth.

I already know some will hate the depth signings of Stastny and Bellemare, but I like to hoard Cs so I did it anyway.

As an oilers fan I’d do it would you take someone like khaira back tho and maybe make it a third?

You’re probably losing Girard or Toews since you have to protect EJ with an NMC and Makar. Seattle would take one of them over Donskoi.

Hertl would only be moved at TDL if we’re bad. Likely won’t be cheap if so because I highly suggest that there would be a bidding war/ multiple teams (I see Tampa going hard for Hertl if that’s the case; with Goodrow already fitting perfectly from SJ). Extension likely adds more value. Will be interesting this TDL if the Sharks suck again because they’re bound to sell if so.

Kane is likely the only big name that would be moved if it all before the season.

EJ has already agreed to waive his NMC

In my mind Colorado is more interested in a Tullio type who can provide upside in a couple years. Khaira would just be a depth piece that could even end up a healthy scratch.

Tullio, a 3rd, and a late pick might be doable.

I just meant that khaira would be a cheap depth option instead of bringing back bellemare

Very fair. I was thinking it might be more TDL too.

I think they would prefer to get picks/prospects and bring back a guy that they know fits well. I see your logic though. Just not sure that would be something Sakic does.

No Newhook no Hertl imo. He’s so valuable to us, the only way I’d trade him is severe overpayment or deadline time and he refuses to resign with us. This could work at the deadline In that case maybe, but currently no way.

More or less what I figured. I think they need to at least see how the year goes before doing something crazy.

Agreed. Hertl has said he wants to remain in SJ and depending on the contract I’d love to keep him around.

I like what you've done for the most part but i don't really like the stas signing. You've burried jost after he finally had a good year and i think kaut could make more of an impact than stas at this point in his career. I think bringing back belly for another year is fine, he played pretty well on PK and 4th line minutes. If we needed anything else i'd say it is more a new calvert. I know oconnor fills that role but having a 2nd one incase one goes down with injury would be nice over stas.

Fair on Stastny. I like Josty more than mosty, so I get that part. I like that he's a good setup and fo guy though, which adds somethingthe team could use. And he may be willing to do a 1 year deal where others aren't. But yeah, I hear you.

Hoping for a Nuge like contract now 🤞 was predicted like 8M AAV as free agent and got 5.125M to stay.

But if we are gonna trade him this deal isn't bad, but I'd want the 1st rounder instead

I think I'd fight pretty hard against the first unless you swap in Helleson (or even Graves) for Barron. I think that's a worse deal for SJ though.
