Six years of John Gibson in return for an LD who would compete with Cam Fowler and Hampus Lindholm for playing time and two second-tier futures.

No, thanks.

The Gibson trade is horrible. Just resign Grub.

You would rather have Grubauer then Gibson?

not saying Anaheim goes for the trade jus throwing out what the team could look like with Gibson.

Not saying you should like the trade or anything, but Girard played the right side most of the year. He might be a better fit than you think.

But yeah, the Gibson trades are a pipe dream in my mind. Everything points to Anaheim trying to step on the gas and compete soon, which means he's not going anywhere.

In this situation, yes. Grub has outperformed Gibson over the last few years. If it was just a simple choice between the two, it would be a toss up. I might lean Gibson since he's a little younger. But I'm not giving up Girard, Ranta, and a first for that little bit of difference.

The problem with any trade for a defenseman is that if it occurs prior to the expansion draft, that just means yet another decent defenseman we'd have to expose.

There are some subtle indications that any statistical difference(s) between Gibson and Grubauer (who, as you point out, is older) might not be entirely their own doing.

It could be done after. The bigger issue (imo) is that I don't think either team would really be interested in the trade. Both Gibson and Girard are too important to their teams.

As an Avs fan, I may change my tune if Byram breaks out, but until he does Girard is pretty necessary. And even then Anaheim has to change their tune on Gibson, which I have a hard time seeing.

Not worth it from colorado IMO. Grubes wasn't the issue this year and he finished as a vezna finalist. No point to move on from him, odds are he will take less than gibson anyways so might as well resign him
