Love Timo Meier but he's not a Center. Can't make it work. Lundkvist is also very very highly anticipated in NY.

Rangers would only be interested in Hertl as a trade option.

Even then, could easily get him for a package not involving Lundkvist.

donato was only worth a 3rd 2 years ago after his hot streak with minnesota if you thought he could maybe keep that up. He’s proven otherwise over the last two years, easy pass from ottawa

That's really interesting

Reckon it has to be ~9M for AZ not to match

But the SJ '22 1st is a helluva(n) asset

😑

He has a career pts/60 of ~ 2 which is very good

It's about an 80th overall pick for crying out loud: the likelihood it becomes an NHLer even half as good as Donato is like 1% at best... really marginal

Meier is such an interesting situation. He’s a really good player but his contract situation and pending QO after next season have to make a trade nearly impossible right? Most teams wouldn’t be willing to trade much for him bc they likely won’t qualify a player like him at $10M+ (he’s a good player but not at that level) and don’t want to lose him for much. And the sharks don’t want to just give him up for peanuts which is fair.

His last deal just really killed his value for this year. I’d assume the sharks keep him but don’t qualify him. Does that mean they couldn’t sign him even if he’s willing to sign a deal less than his QO? I honestly don’t have great context on the situation so would be interested to hear from sharks fans.

Should be noted Lundkvist is a UFA next summer if he doesn't sign the next 12 months...much like a college player. So he can just bolt for a better program if willing to sit out one more NHL year

Preds decline. There's no need for Burns.

Pretty easy Rangers decline. Don't have space for any more wingers.

We'll swap you Strome + 1st for Hertl extended though.

SJ easily passes on that. Although if Strome is extended too and Chytil is thrown in, Sharks likely do the deal.

I like your jokes. The difference between Strome extended and Hertl extended is a 1st if we're being generous.

i mean i guess its a good thing when everyones trying to trade their 6mm dollar players, 1 yr out from FA, for your prospects. But Lundqvist will go down as best Lundquist to ever play for the Rangers. and again ya gotta take contracts and caps into consideration when ur prop these deals. easy No and pass and nyet.

In that case keep Strome, SJ'll keep Hertl. You're the one who brought him up, I'm just saying that's what it would take from SJ's POV.

I mean that's OK. If you want him to go to UFA and lose him for nothing....

I was trying to make sure you got something for him...

1. I can literally say the same thing about Strome... again, SJ's not trading Hertl. And if they extend him, they'll get a lot more for him than an expiring Strome and a 1st. You're delusional if you think otherwise.
2. More importantly, Hertl has a great relationship with SJ, the team, the fans, his teammates (bff Couture). He's resigning given that the team at least wants to try and be competitive and doesn't want a rebuild either.
