Kurashev will be Turbo 2.0 if we trade him. We've been burned too any times using young guys as sweeteners to dump cap, but the thing is we have so much cap space that it doesn't matter if they don't take dehaan. All we really care about is the roster spot not the money. I say if they don't take him we trade him at half price to another team for whatever we can get, probably at least a 3rd

What does it cost the Oil to move Neal's 2 years @ 5.75 in a vaccum? I would think that is in the general neighborhood of that first rounder plus a little more. If the Oilers are looking for cap space to resign Larsson (or replace him otherwise) and address the other holes in the lineup (namely goaltending and forward depth), attaching that first to Neal probably doesn't have many teams in the league interested or capable. Assuming no Klefbom, Keith sliding behind Nurse into the 2nd LHD slot is a nice add where when you utilize him at 18/19 minutes a game as opposed to overuse @23 on a ****show Hawks team. Strome at 2 million adds a solid NHL depth forward who has history with the franchise player.

Edmonton is probably creeping up on the point of build a team capable of winning a couple rounds in the playoffs or Nurse walks as a UFA next Summer and you probably start getting some grumblings from your top of the food chain marquee forwards getting tired of not being in a position to truely contend.

The equivalent of 2 first round assets for Keith is a bit rich imo, even with Strome involved. Take out Holloway and out in Caleb Jones.

Neal's remaining contract (2 years @5.725 each) is worth at the VERY least a first round asset to move. 1 year of Marleau @ 6.25 cost the 13th overall pick (which the very next pick after was Edmonton taking Holloway at #14). The 19th OA is not moving Neal's TWO years at almost the same cap. The other first round asset is for Keith and a net 2 million Strome.

I will buy an arguement that the Oil won't pay the price to free 6 million in cap. But if they decide it is time to push in some chips to have the cap to try to build a team capable of getting out of the first round, I don't think the value here is off for what it will take. Maybe they find someone willing to take 3 years of Kassian @3.2 or the last year of Koskinen's last year of 4.5 for a more palitable cost.

There would be so many better goalies than subban on the fa market and all we would have to do is give up money. Canes pass.

My thoughts are more moving him anywhere and not necessarily to the Canes. I did think the Canes would make Nedeljkovic the guy in net and want to go with a cheap back up.

Sanheim won't be moved like he's not worth protecting as of right now the three dmen being protected will be Provorov, Sanheim and Myers. Patrick is probably apart of a bigger trade this offseason there isn't really a worry about who is and isn't going to be protected in Philly so the trade doesn't make much sense

My thought is not that Sanheim is not worth protecting, but rather that they would be comfortable with what is left at LHD if they move him and would rather protect other pieces particularly in that Sanheim is going from cheap to more expensive. There is a lot of sunk cost in LHD in Provorov and Ghost (I personally think his deal will be difficult to move and the best bet is his game bounces back a bit while York is eased in and you can maybe move Ghost in a year or two.

Keith is a bigger cap dump than Neal... Keith was one of the worst defenders in the year, your team was outchanced, outshot, and outscored by a greater margain when he was on the ice.
Keith’s contract can’t be bought out, Neals can.
Thinking Keith is anymore than a heavily overpaid 3LD is laughable

The Oilers are just going to buy out Neal. Kind of obvious imo
