Rangers decline. The uncertainty around Eichel Neck injury drops his trade value.. I'm sorry but thats facts and Eichel is NOT going to fetch you what a healthy Eichel would. You making trades as if Eichel is 100% healthy.

Maybe Buffalo should wait till midway though the season unless they are also very concerned about his neck injury. Personally I feel like it won't affect him that much.

hard pass. they're not getting blue chip prospect. I'd be surprised if even Kravstov is offered. 10M is too much money.

1 for 1 trades don't happen in the NHL anymore... and I think the Sabres should be more interested in picks than for Vilardi.

I’m convinced myself this is going to happen. Jack even said in his exit interview that he wants to play hockey, and even said he will lead the Sabres. They have a full year to trade him.

What? You probably haven't even seen Eichel play...

Interesting. My thoughts are that the Sabres haven't proven themselves to be good at drafting.

Don’t see Columbus paying that much for a rental, but if risto came with an extension, but then he’d cost more than that. Columbus needs picks and prospect, they are going to suck with or without Risto, who would likely leave after the one season.

To be fair the current regime has really only had one draft so far. It sounds to me like they got a lot of good prospects in last year‘s draft, and Peterka looks to be a steal where they got him.

Chytil and mittlestadt are basically the same player so remove both.

This technically would be Zibanejad (NMC and we lose him to cap), Lafraniere, Nils and Chytil for Eichel, which makes it a no go.

They traded up to get Peterka and the Sens passed on him 3 times despite scouting him while they were scouting Stutzle. Not sure how great a pick that is.

The picked Jack Quinn over Rossi and Perfetti.

I don't trust the scouting of this organization.

I like Chytil better than Mittlestadt. I think he plays a more solid defensive game although he has slightly less offensive potential.

If they trade Jones they won't have any top 4 RHD.

We were all a little surprised when they chose Quinn over Rossi, but they really believe in Dylan Cozens to a point where they felt they did not need to add another top-flight center on the depth chart. Quinn has an elite shot according to the scouting staff, and actually only played with Rossi on the power-play. So you can’t necessarily say his numbers are largely because of playing with Rossi.

Ottawa passing on Peterka may say more about their scouts than Buffalo’s. Peterka has already progressed enough to earn an entry-level contract the year after being drafted. It remains to be seen just how good he can be. Truthfully we won’t know how well anyone drafted for at least two or three years.

Buffalo is a team that has trouble scoring. Keeping the better offensive talent in Mittelstadt is probably more important to them.

And why does it matter what side players shoot when you suck bad enough for a top 5 pick and have no picks and the worst prospect pool in the league?

That’s why Kevin Adam’s already turned down a ****ty offer from the rangers last year. We are not giving away eichel and definitely not adding mittelstadt

I mean they could flip him at the TDL half retained for more than what they are giving up here. It's not like they have an overflow of young guys they want to give playing time on the right side of the defence.

I think that's fair. You deserve a good return for an elite player. From my perspective as a Rangers fan, I feel like our success is going to depend on more than just the C position that he would be filling. I think that at this stage in the team's rebuild, we're still figuring out what we've got in our young guys. I don't think we're close enough to know that we should invest 12% of the cap to address just this one need, especially given the flat cap and that we just gave Kreider and Trouba their deals. If we were confidently just an Eichel away from contending, then maybe. But I don't get what the hurry is.

It's probably not enough for you, but that's more than we should be willing to pay, imo.

Only way they get Laf is if they retain 50% on Eichel. Nils is pretty close to untouchable as well

And Eichel has a neck injury and 10 million dollar cap hit that not a lot of teams can take with the flat cap. When’s the last time a 1OA pick was traded let alone for a guy at low value like Eichel? Also if Laf is so terrible then why do you want him lol

Or he didn’t trade Eichel last year because they tried to compete, hence the Taylor Hall signing, and Eichel wasn’t having a public dispute about an injury with the team last year.

Laf isn't terrible and is a good piece but Eichel is just better... Even with the neck thing I take Eichel over Lafreniere 10/10. Centres also have a lot more more value than wingers.

If the trade was reversed and Eichel was a Ranger you'd be saying this isn't enough...

Would you give Panarin half retained for the 1st OA pick in this draft?
