Cost for cap space

Created by: RicXX
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 1, 2021
Published: Jul. 1, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Chicago takes a contract dump, with values as they were before the flat cap being a first for 8m, and cap space being at a premium these days, values are going to be higher than some would think.

I tried to make it work where Chi would take them all and still be under the cap... I failed, probably cause too many beers.

Happy Canada day 🇨🇦!
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Neal, James
  2. 2021 1st round pick (EDM)
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (EDM)
EDM
Taking 11.5m in cap and real cash... that's going to cost at least a first, and probably more
    2.
    CHI
    1. Lucic, Milan
    2. 2021 1st round pick (CGY)
    3. 2021 3rd round pick (EDM)
    CGY
Taking on 10.5m in cap and real cash, 5.5m in signing bonus
      3.
      CHI
      1. Ladd, Andrew
      2. 2022 1st round pick (NYI)
      3. 2022 2nd round pick (NYI)
      NYI
Taking 11m in cap, 8m in salary 6m is bonus... and he doesn't play with the big team...
        4.
        CHI
        1. Johnson, Tyler
        2. 2022 1st round pick (TBL)
        TBL
15m in cap, but he is at least playable unlike most of the others... this could be something that involves other pieces going each way... had to use the 1st as they don't have much else
          5.
          CHI
          1. Eriksson, Loui
          2. 2021 2nd round pick (VAN)
          VAN
Taking his 6m in cap, 1 year, 4m cash, 1m signing bonus... manageable
            6.
            CHI
            1. Smith, Reilly
            2. 2021 2nd round pick (NJD)
            VGK
            1. 2021 2nd round pick (VGK)
            Additional Details:
One year of Smith if Vagas needs the space, easy, swap of the picks (also if Vagas wants to offersheet, may need their pick back)
            7.

I'd rather keep Lucic. He is an amazing locker room guy and won't be using our 1st to dump him

Can you imagine poor Jonathan Toews coming back to find his team consisting of Neal, Lucic, the ghost of Ladd, and bloody Loui Eriksson? He'd be like "nah I got that immune system thing again, and I've already booked my ticket to Robidas Island for the year."

Edm doesn't need cap space and can just buyout Neal if they do.

Considering who they have to sign this offseason, I feel like you could get a little more out of Vancouver for Eriksson.

That or Tyler Johnson from Tampa (if it was up to me, I'd take on his entire contract if they gave us Mathieu Joseph in return)

Most you are getting for taking on Lucic is a 3rd, 12th OA is laughable

Why would the oilers give that much for an under 2 million dollar buy out. Oilers have 20 million in cap space without buyout.

Trading Neal makes more sense. Buying him out it’s 2 million AAV for 4years. The smarter move is to buy out Kosikinen and trade Neal to create more cap space.

Makes no.sense to trade a 1st and 3rd for no reason. You bought out Neal, making Chicago 500k over the cap with 20 players and a possible 5.4 mil in bonuses...

I think it’s more of hypothetical or what the cost would be if they were to accept cap dumps.

This is actually really great thinking, once Tampa wins this year again, they'll be much like Chicago was after 2015... Immediately into "****, what do we do now?" And I think Stan could absolutely land a prospect better than Mathieu Joseph (and I like him!) to solve Tampa's cap problem just like that.

Plus, sadly, Tyler Johnson would actually be a pretty good ad for the Hawks if you look at the current roster, especially if Strome is moved on. Says more about the Hawks' forward group than the Bolts, doesn't it?

Lmao ya eh! I'm just sick of seeing posts where others think they are doing the hawks a favour by dumping a contract on them in exchange for a good player and draft pick

Oh like most Oilers fans want to give Lucic and a 7th for Keith and a 3rd?

It would cost a first in value to take on his contract, that would be players or picks or combination of both.

It's a What If type senario, I was trying to remember all the cap dump players that were mentioned in an article. I was trying to see if I could work them all into the team. I couldn't do it, but without Erikson probably could make the cap work.

I'm glad someone gets it! Thank you.

Oh like most Oilers fans want to give Lucic and a 7th for Keith and a 3rd?

It would cost a first in value to take on his contract, that would be players or picks or combination of both.

            1. Lucic isnt an oiler
            2. Flames arent trying to move him
