I don't know about retaining on OEL in a trade for 6 years while also giving up Garland.

I don't think Arizona retains that much if anything tbh and I think that return is too light just for OEL.

No way. More than enough for just OEL. He’s not who he used to be and his contract is brutal

Agree that his contract is brutal but he is still a upper tiered defensemen.

I think if NJD eats the whole contract they could get Garland for that price, but if ARZ is retaining that significantly it'll cost more.

Aside from that the deals are fine, but you are exclusively trading for 2 absolutely terrible players in OEL and Risto

I can't see the Habs taking on Butcher without retained salary. Even then, they're probably better off resigning Gustafsson or giving one of their prospects a chance.

Even if we paid OEL full salary, we'd have to give another prospect.
