When you move a cap dump you usually give something with it not get value in return lol.

I know this is a little harsh on Schmidt but that is not an insignificant amount of money and term to move

Schmidt is not a cap dump but yes I agree it's a lot of money and NJD might want to move a contract back. Maybe Johnsson?

Devils don't need cap relief, are gonna struggle to reach the floor actually. But Benning needs all the help he can get and considering Schmidt is a 30-year old coming of from his worst season ever sitting on a terrible contract, Devils shouldn't need to pay anything higher than a 4th for Schmidt.

Not going to happen. Freidman has said there is interest around the league for Schmidt. He won't be that cheap.
