Imagine Ovi/Geno/Kappy. That would be such a fun line for so many reasons..lol. Both Ovi and Kappy have big personalities and then u have Geno who is a typical quiet, serious Russian, with the dry sense of humor.

Not to mention how awesome they would be on ice.

Holl is a cost controlled 4/5 d man. that’s a important piece to the Leafs. And Hallander is more important to the Leafs than I first realized.

Hallander could be moved, for what, I’m not sure. But I doubt Holl will.

Tanev is an overpaid bottom-sixer. Good player, but too expensive. And DeSmith just doesn’t make sense with the news that Andersen wants to come back as a backup.

DeSmith proved he belongs. He’s a more than capable, NHL back-up/1B goalie. Look at his stats.

The Pens organization seems set on signing a vet back-up to go along with Jarry though. I personally don’t think they will do better than DeSmith. Especially for the Money.

Raask, Ullmark and Dreidger are better. Freddy and J.Bernier, but at what cost?? I’d rather DeSmith at 1.25M. And maybe Mrazek?? But besides that DeSmith is a better, more capable NHL back-up than any other FA goalie.

And who knows, if he was healthy during the Isles play-off series and was able to give Jarry a rest and a night off, things might have went differently. Maybe DeSmith might have got hot too and took over acouple games for Jarry until he cooled off. Like happened in the regular season acouple times.

it creates the needed cap space for this ACGM. Comeau is a 1 year rental on a cheap deal. Actually Plays physical, hits and plays a good 200 foot game; a grinder. Contributes enough offensively too.

Pens would retain just 500K on Pettersson salary for 3 more seasons after this upcoming season.

For some reason 3.5M per for Pettersson is a good contract to people but 4M per is the worst contract in the NHL. Lol. It’s the 3.99 compared to $4.00 psychology.

STRONG disagree here. The reason y'all like this trade is because of your unwarranted hatred for Comeau. Dallas gladly takes 1 year of Comeau over 4 years of a 3LD that they don't need. Taking this contract is taking $3.5M that Dallas could use for Klingberg, Oettinger, Robertson, or Gurianov next offseason. Between Sekera, Hanley, Gleason, and Harley, Dallas plenty of depth behind Lindell, possibly Oleksiak, and possibly Heiskanen (depending on whether or not Dallas gets another RHD in the near future).

First, is JO that much better than Pettersson? I say no and better have him than JO at maybe 4M$. I could see Nill give him that much.

Second, that trade would avoid seeing Comeau close to 15 minutes per game. That is something that my hockey brains do not need.

But feel free to enjoy him next year. It’s a free country.

Fans hate the stay at home D-men. Like Pettersson. Who make very few mistakes, has a long reach, long stick. Very good defensively. Is Plus(+) 39 for his career.

Plus/Minus isn’t the best stat but he hasn’t been a minus(-) for a season yet. And he has good metrics/analytics too. And he contributes enough offensively. Only 25 years old, contributes on a competitive, division winning team. Has play-off experience. Learning from Dumoulin and Letang. Literally what most all NHL GMs want.

But fans will always want the flashy guys like DeAngello, Mete, Ghoustisbhere, that literally no NHL GMs will even touch for free.

Second, Comeau had only the 8th highest EV TOI/G among all Stars forwards. It’s not like he was seeing 18:00 minutes a game or anything. He saw 3rd line minutes just like he should have & played very well (reference the link above).



I don’t value flashy. With the way the NHL has evolved, I value puck possession, offense generation, & opposing offense suppression out of my defensemen. If you can generate more for your team when you’re on the ice than you allow the other team to generate that’s a positive.

Not once have i clamored for Gostisbehere or Mete. DeAngelo, is one of the best offense-driving defensemen in the league. Even with some subpar defense, his teams are substantially better when he’s on the ice vs. when he’s not on the ice (hint, Oleksiak is the same way, but the roles are reversed. Very little offense, but very solid defensively. Dallas is significantly better with him on the ice vs. off).
