Nah Ehlers is a top 5 winger, while Tkachuk is top 10

With Tkachuk making 7.0 already and looking for a raise, there is pretty much no chance he can live up to the value of his next contract. Calgary would be adding quite a bit.

Maybe he can if Sutter actually decides to play him on the first line and let him do his thing

Tkachuk's skating doesn't look good enough for my tastes for him to stay a high end winger for too much longer. Plus he seems to be greedy, so he won't be signing a team friendly contract. So he might be okay for a couple more years, but I can't see him living up to his next contract for the entirety of it if it it's a long term deal.
