A True 1C

Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Team Explanation
The Habs are built to be a playoff team.

They just lack 1 thing. A true 1C. They need a 1C. Which is why I think Eichel would be a good fit.

Explanation on the Danault signing. This is like the RNH signing. Give term and 5M.

I would stay away from Eichel. With his neck issue you never know how that will turn out Will the rehab work? will he need surgery? how will the surgery turn out?

I know nobody will like my comment, but there is no way that you are getting a top 10 center man without making the starting piece Nick Suzuki. He is your best young player/prospect that you have. To get a guy like Eichel, you need to give to get. This is a underpay in my opinion, especially since those picks would be in the 20s with Eichel on the team.

Vegas can give Glass, Krebs and a 1st.

The 1st you are giving is almost a 2nd round pick (31OA).

Wow an Eichel trade that makes sense for the Habs but then it means we don't resign Danault as we need space for better 3rd line wingers. Also need to revamp the lines. I am ok with the 1st line as it makes sense. Line 2 should be Toffoli-Suzuki-Caufield. Line 3 we need something like Garlan-Kotkaniemi-Hoffman(if he signs a cheap 1 year deal) Line 4 Byron-Evans-Lehkonen. Not sure if you could pull all that off though.

One thing that has not been mentioned here, is Adams willing to send him to a division rival...if so it's going to be an overpay.

"And Josh Anderson is a really good power forward."

Looks like Anderson is more of a regular season power forward with only 4 points in 20 playoff games this year.

Wromg imo. Excluding Caufield you could easily put a package togther to get Eichel. KK, Guhle, Romanov and two firsts get you Eichel in a heart beat. And thats not including a package around Caufield. You could even throw in Primeau to sweeten the pot.

Buffalo doesn't need LHD. They will have Dahlin and Power.

Romanov prefers the right side and the word is out that Buffalo may not select Powers anyways. Either way they take that deal, which was the premise of my post

I wouldn't take that deal.

Those 1sts will be low ones if the Habs have Eichel. Romanov and Guhle don't fit Buffalo's needs.

KK might be a 2C but doesn't show any signs of being a future 1C.

Buffalo needs quality over quantity. I'd want Suzuki or Caufield in an Eichel trade.

This trade gets imo, and so does another if you add Caufield. Which is the premise of my statement.

And doesn't fit their needs? Lol. Is that a joke? Buffalo has needs at every position. Romanov would be there top pairing D in 2 years, Guhle would be a second pair, KK at least would be second line center and add in a first from the 22 and 23 drafts which are verg deep btw. So yes, this does fit there needs.

Romanov and Guhle aren't necessary when they will have Dahlin, Power and Jokiharju. Sure I'd definitely take them for free but they don't carry full value to me as Buffalo. Guhle would be stuck on the 3rd pairing. Romanov will be long out of Buffalo before he becomes anything close to a 1st pairing D man and I'd much rather a 1st round pick.

KK and 4 1sts I'd consider.

That essentially is KK and 4 first rounders lol. I see you're overvauling Jokiharju and undervauling the habs D prospects as well. I assume there is some bias as a leafs fan lol.

I'd take the 1sts even if they are late rather than take Romanov and Guhle. Its as simple as positional need... Buffalo needs skilled forwards more than LDH. I like Guhle and think he's a great prospect but he isn't as good as Dahlin or Power. Guhle playing the 3rd pairing is a waste and will lower his trade value and overall value.

Romanov already has 2 years of his ELC used up and is also a left shot. Imo offensive defensemen are overrated compared to defensive defencemen.

Nope. If I am Buffalo, I want a future 1c coming back which is Suzuki. Kotkaniemi will be okay, but he’s not a starter for a trade. The firsts would suck, and Guhle is okay, depending on who they draft. Romonov is great, but if they draft a defence man, they won’t need both. I would never do that if I was Buffalo.

I love how people are on here saying what Buffalo needs. They legit need everything!! They have sucked for years and have holes everywhere! And how stupid does Buffalo think teams are? You're not getting Zegras, Dach, Suzuki, Byfield, etc plus three or 4 other pieces. Eichel, as good as he is still makes 10mil on the cap. Which is a negative compared to the guys I mentioned. Plus he is currently injured with a pending neck surgery! So the answer is yes, not nope. Buffalo obviously wants a future 1c in return but in no way are they getting one with 4 or 5 other pieces on top of that.

I agree they are not with 4 other pieces, but the only way they are trading Eichel is if they get that 1c. If you are not going to give up your best prospect, then don’t phone, because it’s not even fair if they don’t get your best prospect.

For starters Romanov isn't an offensibe D man and plays the right side. Meaning you could have a legit top 4 D of Dahlin and Guhle on the left with Romanov and Jokiharju on the right. Thats a legit top for a decade. Secondly Power isn't the consensus top overall pick with rumours out there that Buffalo doesn't want to take him. You could have Cozens, KK and Beniers as your top three centers! Middlestad and you fill the wings through free agency and the many first round picks you have coming. No brainer to accept. Althouhh I don't forsee any team giving up this much, especially with the neck issues.
