running it back.... to lose in the conference finals! LOL! Just kidding just kidding! I've said this since the beginning of the season that palms would be a good deal to the islanders. He fits perfectly! Hope they can resign him.

Detroit will accept that if you swap Salo for Bode Wilde.
Detroit already have 6 very good LD prospects and need a RD much more.

This sets up Beauvillier , sorokin, Wahlstrom , and Barzal needing deals at the same time - with sorokin and Beauvillier UFAs. That is not good…

I also wouldn’t trade Salo - he currently has the highest star % and NHLer % among all isles D prospects (it’s not close). It makes more sense to trade or buyout Leddy so they don’t have to give up assets to move Ladd

Who are the 6? Johansson, Wallinder, McIsaac, and Viro.

You’re using “very good” pretty frivolously.

Still would be better off getting a rd prospect like Wilde. So far all those LD prospects for Detroit have looked good but they still have a ways to go, time will tell.

I think they could be ok with the free agents in two years, clutterbuck will be off the books, if sorokin keeps up the good play I expect Varlamov to be moved after next season. Leddy will be of the books or be resigned for cheaper. Also depending how he plays I think Eberle could potentially be moved after this season as well.
I think it's a risk they have to take to push for a cup right now.

I'm sorry but referring to Sebrango and Kotkansalo as very good is a stretch. There are 3 groups with those 6 players

    1. Johansson and Wallinder

    2. McIsaac and Viro

    3. Sebrango and Kotkansalo

McIsaac has missed the majority of the last 2 seasons getting both of his shoulders surgically repaired and that is why he is in the 2nd group. The shoulders never return to 100% after surgery so there is a good chance he will need more down the road.

McIsaac has looked good in his small games after though, but agreed alot more work needed.

They should be selling high on Leddy right now, he's not good and his point production is misleading. Yeah but sorokin and beauvillier can walk....it makes more sense to get rid of leddy, not re-sign him. There are better/cheaper options in free agency. Prioritize the young players that drive the isles success and lock them up long term.

I like Salo and I'd definitely take this deal. That being said I also think this is an over payment. Ladd has 2yrs left at $4,375M I'd say drop the 3rd or drop both of the picks and put 2nd in their place.

I think they have to move on from Leddy as well, I made a Isles team yesterday that was pretty boring but sent Leddy to Detroit with Hickey for nothing.

That is likely to be the case regardless. Islanders will be looking at bridge deals regardless for Beau and Ilya- only Pelech will they be able to and try to sign long term

It is going to cost a first rounder to move Ladd and likely a prospect. Perhaps Wilde instead and "maybe" it can be done without the 3rd attached, but the first is automatic. As for Salo, the Islanders may have Bolduc rated higher (he is certainly closer, as he almost made the team out of camp). Either way, one of the three (Samuel, Robin or Bo) will likely have to be attached

So the isles could lose pulock, Beauvillier, and sorokin in the next 2 years while prioritizing signing older, declining players like palmieri and cizikas to long term deals? That would be a disaster. Beauvillier is a lot better than Palmieri and sorokin strikes me as a guy that would leave as a UFA

As per most NHL projection models which are pretty accurate, Salo is rated higher than bolduc due to his production in better leagues. Bolduc’s main issue is his hockey IQ, which you can’t teach. He struggles with the pace of the game. Bolduc does not have what it takes yet to play in the NHL. He’s not a highly rated prospect and he’s only 20! He’s not a Noah Dobson blue chip D prospect, bolduc needs at least another year or 2 in the AHL. Salo has no flaws in his game and he’s already 23

They would have the cap space to re-sign all three. Even in my suggestions they would have $40 million in cap space (and that is figuring it at 81.5, which will most certainly be higher at that time) and expiring contracts of Eberle, Bailey and Martin for flexibility.

You are overreacting about absolutely nothing to be honest

Bailey, Martin contracts expire in 3 years. This ACGM has
Beauvillier and sorokin due for new contracts in 2 years. They can sign with any team at the point, the isles have leverage right now as they are both RFAs, it would be nice if they can get younger players locked up long term instead of signing Kyle palmieri, who is the next Andrew Ladd.

Im not overreacting, I’m saying this team should prioritize signing younger players instead of old declining players. 6 years for cizikas and 4 years for palmieri. Yikes.

Dude, he almost made the team out of camp. Trotz specifically pointed that out

He did not almost make the team out of camp. They were just talking him up, have you watched bolduc in the A this season? No doubt he’s a decent prospect but he’s years away. Also comparing Salo and Bolduc is like comparing wahlstrom and Simon holmstrom. It’s just not close.

Yikes.

Read slower dude. "Expring contract means there is one year left.

And I would bet a million dollars both Beauvillier and Sorokin take bridge deals. I doubt the Islanders commit long term to either of them.

No, Trotz was adamant that Samuel almost played himself onto the roster. I too like Salo's long term potential better, but almost every Islander insider says that Bolduc is closer to being NHL ready, despite the age difference
