Read slower dude. "Expring contract means there is one year left.

And I would bet a million dollars both Beauvillier and Sorokin take bridge deals. I doubt the Islanders commit long term to either of them.

No, Trotz was adamant that Samuel almost played himself onto the roster. I too like Salo's long term potential better, but almost every Islander insider says that Bolduc is closer to being NHL ready, despite the age difference

So the islanders are going to commit long term to 30 year olds but not their best winger in Beauvillier? This team is going to be forced into a long rebuild in a year.

    Which islanders insider?

It doesn’t matter what any islanders insider says - Salo dominated in the 4th best league in the world (top 3 D in the entire league) while Bolduc struggled with the pace of play in the AHL (8th best league in the world). There is no logical argument that bolduc is more NHL ready than Salo

As for Palmieri being the next Ladd, that is just an insane comparison, especially with the contract I suggest.

I have Kyle signing a 4-year deal (at 4.75 million per) for his age 30-33 seasons, arguably in his prime.

Ladd was signed to a 7-year deal (at 5.5 million per) for his age 31-36 seasons.

Those aren't even remotely the same. One is actually a good (not to short or long) contract for a player who doesn't turn 31 until the next calendar year while the other was an insanely long contract for a player who was turning that age two months into the season....

Except for the fact that your head coach stated that one of them almost made the team out of camp while nar a mention from the other lol

Yes, I am willing to bet it is a bridge deal for Beau (who btw isn't their best winger by any stretch of the imagination).

By just about every metric, both Lee and Palmieri are better wingers. An argument could be made who is the THIRD best with Beau, Bailey, Eberle and the rookie Wahlstrom...

Palmieri turns 31 in February - players with his skillset usually fall off a cliff between 30-32 YO. Palmieri’s underlying numbers are similar to Ladds the year before he signed with the isles

Salo wasn’t even signed by the team yet and went on to have an incredible season in the SHL.

Trotz said similar things about Bellows before he spent the next 2+ years in the AHL. Trotz didn’t have any plans of playing Dobson in his D+2 after winning his 2nd memorial cup. But yeah Bolduc is close to NHL ready as a B prospect after playing 24 AHL games 😂

Yes, I know when his birthday is and it is still considered playing in his 30-33 year seasons and ISNT EVEN REMOTELY comparable to giving someone who was 6 MONTHS OLDER AT SIGNING a SEVEN YEAR CONTRACT- twice as much money as well lol

NOT COMPARABLE AT ALL, no matter how you try and spin it

Trotz specifically said he almost made the team (and no it wasn't comparable with what he said about Bellows). Again, no matter how you spin it, that alone would indicate he has a good chance to be in the battle for the third pairing next season....

Andrew Ladd turned 31 in December in his first year with the isles. The year before there were already signs he was going to fall off a cliff sooner than later. Same thing with Palmieri. Palmieri’s offense and defense both declined this season and you can’t blame it on the devils because the players he spent the most time on the ice with were very good players.

Palmieri’s comparables are Ladd, lucic, Erickson , James Neal, when they signed their contracts. When was the last time signing a 30+ forward to a 4+ year deal worked out 😂

How about just per 82 the last 3 seasons:

    AB: 41 goals and 44 assists, 85 points in 196 games= 17 goals/ 18 assists/ 35 points per 82

    Lee: 60 goals and 53 assists, 113 points in 177 games= 28 goals/ 25 assists/ 53 points per 82

    Palms: 62 goals and 54 assists, 116 points in 190 games= 27 goals/ 23 assists/ 50 points per 82

    Eberle: 51 goals and 59 assists, 110 points in 191 games= 22 goals/ 25 assists/ 47 points per 82

    Bailey: 38 goals and 96 assists; 134 points in 204 games= 15 goals/ 39 assists/ 54 points per 82

Hell, it would be a tough argument to even say AB was your 4th best winger.....yet; but definitely not better than Lee or Palms

Maybe you should watch how Trotz actually handles young players instead of basing everything off of praise during a training camp interview. Sure , Bolduc will be “in the mix” but he’s nowhere close to NHL ready and If you watched any of his games in Bridgeport it’s easy to see. A 20 year old defenseman that can’t yet handle the pace of the AHL is not going to be on the 3rd pairing next season for the isles.

    Again, there is no comparison.

A 7 year contract and 38.5 million for a 31 year old right when the season starts is not comparable to a 4-year contract for someone who is 6 months younger at half the price.....PERIOD. Even the other ones don't really compare. The closest (Neal) even signed for 5 years and some 10 million more than I suggested and he too was turning 31 before the season even started. FAIL

No matter how many times you try and compare the two

Good, we agreed he is in the mix. Everything else you said is you just arguing with yourself (never said he was better than Salo, nor did I say he didn't struggle at times in the AHL this season).

I personally think he is further along than you do (I do watch Bridgeport games)

Imagine evaluating players strictly on points lol

    1. They do not account for defensive value
    2. They do not account for teammates in any way

But even going strictly on points , here is how Palmieri , Lee, and Beauvillier match up 20-21 season
    Goals per 60 minutes:
    Lee: 1.52
    Beau: 1:17
    Palmieri: .79 (devils) .50 (Isles)

    Points per 60 min:
    Lee: 2.41
    Beau: 2.18
    Palmieri: 1.69 (devils) / 1 (Isles)

Goals for per 60 min (how much a player increases the rate his team scores goals)
    Lee: 3.76
    Beau: 3.17
    Palmieri: 1.86 (Devils) .88 (Isles)

Palmieri vs Beau isn't even a debate lol - Palmieri is regressing at a rapid pace and it's highly unlikely he has a bounce back season when he's approaching the wrong side of 30.

Beauvillier has 35 points in his last 44 games dating back to the regular season, no islander has had as many goals or points in that span. Palmieri only has 17 points in his last 44 games and you want to give him a 4 year deal around 5 mill? interesting.

While Lee is better offensively than Beau, he does benefit from playing with Barzal. Where Beauvillier provides more overall value is in his forechecking ( he's one of the better forecheckers in the league) and his defensive play. Beauvillier had the 3rd best defensive impact among isles forwards this season while Lee has had a negative impact defensively 2 years in a row.

20-21 XGA/60 (preventing quality shots against)
    Lee: 2.24
    Palmieri: 2.35 (devils) 2.24 (Isles)
    Beauvillier: 2.02

Beauvillier plays against tougher competition as well.

Good, we agreed he is in the mix. Everything else you said is you just arguing with yourself (never said he was better than Salo, nor did I say he didn't struggle at times in the AHL this season).

I personally think he is further along than you do (I do watch Bridgeport games)

Wilde is "in the mix" as well, but its also highly unlikely he makes the team.

Bolduc probably needs another year or 2 - he'll likely be a 3rd pair defensive defenseman in the NHL, not much upside with him. His first pass sucks and he has below average hockey sense.

FAIL

No matter how many times you try and compare the two

they are comparable in that they have a similar skillset and are signing an expensive contract after they turn 30 - you clearly do not know what aging curves are lol. Palmieri will be a bottom 6 caliber player within the next 2 years.
