It really doesn't. ANA is not trading Vatanen, a top 4 RHD signed long-term, for an aging Nash who's only going further downhill from here and only has 1.5 years left on his contract. The retention and 1st doesn't make Nash any more desirable. We'd want Miller.

???? Nash at 4.8 mil is pretty desireable for a team looking to patch up holes in their top 9 forward core

I don't think any team would seriously consider taking on Nash without it being a cap dump scenario i.e. you pay to move him. It's pretty obvious that this is just an exercise in NYR dumping their ageing player for something of need. It's totally unrealistic. How about:

Bieksa (1.5M retained) + 3rd for Hayes?

I'd consider a deal for Vatanen around Miller or Kreider. Nash is a non-starter.
