Couts scenerio 2

Team: 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 5, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Before all the Couts fans blast me at least listen to my explanation

JVR signed for 7 million based on what? His past performance not necessarily what he would do.
I can name a number of players getting money and term based on past performance. And I'm talking about players 28 and older.
With that in mind, Couts didn't get a big contract last time based on the Flyers didn't know what they had. Did they have a 3C or an elite 1C in the likeness of Bergereon. I love Couts but he is, never was and never will be mentioned in the same breathe as Bergereon. Couts is still a really good player, puts up decent numbers and is really good defensively. He would thrive on a team like Colorado, Vegas, Tampa, Toronto -teams that already have the pieces. But what's going to happen is the Flyers will over pay him and in 3 years fans on here will be trying to trade his large contract with other people on here making fun of such a ludicrous charge.
His value is high right now and my contention is why not try and cash in. It may very well blow up in their face but like all trades its a gamble.
Teams like Colorado and Vegas are desperate to win now and I think they gamble on parts of their future to win. I think Couts helps them win.
I said and have been saying for the last 4 years that by the time the Flyers are ready to contend Giroux would be past his prime and I got blasted for that. I would only keep Couts if he would agree to a 6mx5yr contract, and even that is too much.

yeah there is 0 chance of that Avs deal, they arent getting their youth and team for that

Easy decline bc thats a massive massive overpayment, and then you somehow have the room to sign Landeskog and the avs dont? Like not even close to being realistic

Columbus isn’t moving 5th OA for that… JVR is a cap dump, a very big cap dump.

With a package like that, the avs go for Jack. Not a 1 yr rental (as good as he is), a top 5 drafter (after 3yrs in the nhl pedigree doesn't really mean s*#t) that is looking like they are going bust, and a 6/7 D (on this team). Honestly, I wouldn't give that for Jack. It would create more holes then fixes.

I get it. If I'm the Avs I don't do that particular deal, I was over reaching, but what would the Avs give up?
Forgot about the Lindros deal. HAHA good one. We are never getting that one back even with this current trade scenerio.

If its a rental swap Kadri for Couturier I would add a 1st, maybe another 2nd (or prospects of equivalent value) if theres retention. I dont think COL would be interested in Patrick or Sanheim

Patrick and Sanhiem arent upgrades over Graves or Newhook in this deal. so avs are not interested in those down grades
We are talking about 2 rentals in Couts and Kadri being swapped, the different between them is not a 1st and Timmins, Ranta,
