I dont see the problem with any of these trades. The Sharks get for Hertl a 3rd line C who is still only 22 and is established in the NHL already, 2 picks, and a pretty good defensive prospect for a rental in Hertl. I see it being similar to the Pacioretty trade from a few years ago. Obviously its not a perfect comparison but thats my logic in this trade. For the Labanc trade, its basically a wash, as they get someone who can play 3C and is younger and has more upside, and its sort of a change of scenery swap, with Chicago giving up a 2nd to balance it out, as I would say Labanc is more established at this point. The Simek trade is a cap dump, Malgin/Donato swap is 2 guys who may not get Qualified, and I can see Malgin doing well in SJ, as he played well under Boughner in Florida and is a similar player to Barabanov.

The general agreement is that Schneider should be replaced with Jones, and the 2nd should be made this years 1st.

Definite nope on trading Donato for Malgin. Malgin is worth nothing more than a 6th.

Better for Sharks to hang on to Simek in that scenario.

Labanc one I could consider.

I know some Rangers fans like trading Chytil for Hertl but the Rangers aren't going to trade their only cost controlled center for another guy who is a UFA next year. Last thing the team needs is all three of their top 9 centers to hit UFA at the same time.

Not sure what general consensus u think ur getting Jones chytil and a 1st for him. Chytil and a 1st is what is the “general” consensus

Its not ideal, but if we trade for Hertl, Strome is almost certainly gone one way or another. Also, its likely that Buchnevich will get traded as his extension wont fit in.

Honestly, if Jones is the make or break part of the trade, Ill throw Jones in.

that's just what I've seen the most, obviously Chytil and the 1st are the framework.

I have no issue trading Jones this offseason but I won’t just throw him into a trade for a 2C that won’t be costing that much.

That’s fine but Jones is worth close to a 1st (maybe 2 2nd) and will progress into being worth more.

I dont know if Donato is being qualified anyways and their value is probably around the same. Also the Malgin Boughner connection is why I think this makes sense.

Honestly wouldn't trade Chytil for Hertl straight up given the cost/value difference.

So yeah that makes it a pretty easy decline.

I highly doubt Jones is in the long term plans of the Rangers. I wouldnt let him be the rate limiting step in a trade for a bonafide 2C.

The Sharks didn't get a first or a high second so the prospect pool continues to middle. Hertl without a first is laughable, think Hall to Arizona or Duchene to Columbus as comparables.

Or think Pacioretty as a comparison, as Schnieder was just a first round pick last year, played in both the Worlds and World Juniors and has upside. I dont see it being a given the Sharks get a first.
