welcome to Cap Friendly. Detroit is going to decline. The trade is not good for a rebuilding team (value aside). Also we are pretty set on the right side.

Its good tho i dont think the wild want to trade away that many picks with dumba might as well just trade him for a mid round first

Constructively, Landeskog isn't a center, McTavish isn't worth that package, you have no cap space left for your 13th forward and 7th defenseman, let alone raises for anyone, and with three picks total in the first two rounds of the next three drafts, you've left us with no cheap talent to fill in the gaps when guys get too expensive.

Dumba trade is good. Maybe also send Stecher back to fill the hole and I accept. I would rather keep Parise and 2 1sts. SEA takes Sturm or Foligno over a cap dump

True. I just think that if Parise for sure can be dumped, then I would be less picky with what Dumba is traded for because it we could narrow down our expansion losses without giving up much capital to protect players and it also gives us cap space for a big signing such as Landeskog

Good point, especially with the parise trade. Dumba could be traded to recoup some of the draft capital lost.

Landeskog has a career faceoff percentage of 53% on over 2000 faceoffs, so its not a great sample size but I see potential as a center. McTavish or Rossi would be the 13th forward, and they are both already counting towards cap, but you are right I don’t have a 7th defenseman. Ideally would be Menell bit would have to do a bit to work out that cap situation. Potentially reworking the DET trade could alleviate some of those issues but cap is still an issue.

You will learn not many people read the explanation and constructive criticism varies user to user. No body gets the value right at first, most overvalue players on their favorite team. So don't let the comments keep you from coming back.

I do agree the value of the Dumba trade is about right. I don't see Dumba coming to Detroit. They need centers and LHDs so if they are going to give up the assets it would take to get Dumba it will be for a position they need. Plus I also don't see Dumba waiving for Detroit. If Stecher gets traded it will be at the TDL and I do think he does get traded at the TDL.

Yep. Great reasoning. The only thing is that Dumba does not have any clauses (yet)

He has a modified NTC 10 team no trade list. Now he signed in 2018 and by that time the wheels had completely fallen off in Detroit. So there is a good chance Detroit is on that list.

Detroit already have 4 RD (Hronek, Seider, Stecher, Lindström), They're not going to give up their top-10 pick to get a 5th RD.
