Why because you can sign a better UFA for less and your not taking on money and waste a asset to do it.

Lmao. JRob and Hintz had 88 points this past year for a combined cap hit of less than 4 million. Hintz missed time and played through a groin injury. JRob started the year in the bottom six trying to get situated. Marner had 11 fewer points and costed 7 million dollars more. Hintz and JRob are still cost controlled assets. Marner is a free agent in four years. All things considered I wouldn’t give you either one of JRob or Hintz for Marner. Def not both and a first. Y’all must have some good drugs up there

Hintz has had one good season. Marner has been a PPG for three years now and he has flirted with 100 points. He was named the best RW this year. So he is better than both Hintz and Robertson. They will never be named to the NHL first or second team. So the Leafs are downgrading. In terms of pure talent the Stars are ahead in this trade.

I could see asking for ONE of them and a 1st, but I do agree with you. No chance Dallas touches this deal. And YES... the drugs up here are very VERY good.

If that is the case why don't you flip him? I hate when poster state another team can flip him while taking on cap and giving up a pick. What if he gets hurt or does not play well, they are stuck with the cap hit and get nothing for it. If you would give up something for the team to take the player on, sure I understand but just saying you can flip him is just fools gold and no GM worth his salt is going to do that..

It was a joke.

At the same time, I think Engvall will fit in well with the Oilers. Sometimes players need a change of scenery.

And his cap hit would kill our ability to build a team around him. Yes Marner is better than both of Hintz and JRob. That doesn’t mean the trade magically works for Dallas. There’s a salary cap. I assume you know this because after proposing the trade that only works for your side you went and used the cap space on free agents

Dallas can trade Radulov or Benn to clear cap space. They may have to retain but the goal is to get younger and faster. You won't find a Marner in free agency and they are rarely available in trades. Toronto is not going to trade him, but if they were going to then Dallas would be a great trading partner.

I wouldn’t be against it. But it would have to be Hintz and Radulov for Marner to make the cap work. Not sure I’d give up a first rounder in that deal. Seems like all these Marner posts involve Marner going for multiple ELC or bridged players and then a UFA spending spree. But it doesn’t work for the other team

I still wouldn’t trade both of Hintz and JRob. I’d be more willing to move Hintz as I think Bourque will be a solid 2C in the not too distant future. And I’d insist on Rads being in the deal. I doubt Benn is movable at this point
