I know that this is an unpopular opinion but do you think Tampa would consider trading Stamkos? They basically won without him and trading him (for a young player on ELC) and dumping Johnson would basically fix the Tampa cap issues. It's risky, but I think McDonagh helps more (for his cap hit) than Stamkos and it could truly make Tampa a dynasty, in my opinion.

No one is giving Tampa a piece with any actual value to help you get out of your cap troubles. You’ll be lucky to get a seventh round pick in return for Johnson and your first round pick this year.

Not their option and almost zero chance he waives

Why does Johnson waive for Buffalo? McDonagh is good, but his term just might scare Seattle off.

If Stamkos will waive and you can get an ELC back that's tampas best move imo

Only thing is I don’t see them asking and even then not sure if he would

Nah, Cirelli isn't going anywhere. If the team truly values keeping the 3rd line together, they have two realistic options. One would be to trade both of Palat and Killorn(in addition to Johnson, of course), or two, they keep one of Killorn/Palat and deal McD to Seattle. I don't see them losing McD, and with Palat being the most likely trade candidate, it comes down to Killorn vs Coleman. Ultimately, I think they keep Killorn for both cap reasons down the line, and because I believe that Coleman may want to play for his hometown team, Dallas. If that's the case, it likely won't matter what Tampa might be able to offer him.

Uhh the sabres wouldn't take a free first round pick for literally only 5 million in cap? As a sabres fan, why not lmao, contract has only 3 years left, and we're going to need players on our roster this year....

Only flaw there, maybe he sees the option for first line ice time and potential to be the #1c as a chance to rebirth his career? Only real buying point Buffalo would offer that other teams can't

The point is not that we wouldn’t take Johnson and their first round pick, its that we won’t give them anything of value in return. The Cap space is all they actually care about it, they don’t need an asset of value in return.
