If their choice is Grubauer or Drouin Colorado pays Grubauer. If Montreal wants to trade Drouin for Erik Johnson Colorado will take Drouin.

It's a valid point. Why would they give up assets to pay Drouin 5.5 when they could sign Saad for the same amount (probably less) without giving anything up

What’s so hard to understand about the Avs cap situation and Drouin contract, or Drouin’s lackadaisical defensive play or the fact that Drouin is on LTIR for an unknown reason. Right this second as far as anybody knows he is 100% a cap dump.
