So that he can get paid less than $2m AAV for the next 6 years? Hmm. I think once he has won the cup, he may look to sign somewhere where he can get seriously paid.

Winnipeg would just let Seattle take Appleton. If they make this trade, they lose Appleton to Vancouver, Stanley or Demelo to Seattle and replace them with a defenseman they have no use for and a second in a bad draft. There's just no logical reason for Winnipeg to do it.
