Grit and size

Created by: sabatage
Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 6, 2021
Published: Jul. 6, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Smith and Oleksiak add size, grit and better defensive end presence over Reilly or Tinordi and I suspect they loose Zboril or Lauzon in expension.
Ullmark has put up good numbers behind the worst team in the league, could benefit from more game time with a better team and being younger could take the weight off Tukka while recovering.
Edm as rumoured to have interest in Debrusk and I think he needs new scenery and this trade can help both teams.
Landeskog can play left till Krejci retires then fill that center spot while putting up great numbers with Krejci and Puuls.

Easy no from the Oilers, they wouldn't trade JP for DeBrusk and a 2nd. They're just not trading him unless its for a completely unreasonable trade offer.

No thanks to Puljujarvi lol. His top 3 linemates this year were McDavid, Leon and RNH....and he still was only on pace to put up 37pt in an 82 game season. When Pool Party was away from McDavid or Leon his metrics dropped and with or with RNH they were about the same. He'd be playing on the 3rd line in Boston and his linemates would obviously be nowhere to the level of a McDavid or Leon, thus his numbers (which already aren't anything special) would probably drop.

"Smith and Oleksiak add size, grit and better defensive end presence over Reilly" Reilly is way better than Smith and the latter isn't worth $3M.

In that case you'd be totally fine with Ken Holland hysterically laughing at this offer and hanging up the phone.

Sure? I'm sorry was that some attempt at a comeback/insult? You couldn't refute anything I said so this is what you decided to try out instead? laugh

Hard pass from Edmonton... when you have a guy that can play top 6 minutes for that cap hit, you keep him unless it's for a significant upgrade which this is not.

I would argue that JP was on the 3rd and 4th line to start the year after a couple of years away from the NHL, he earned his way up the line up and clicked with Conner, mostly because of his two way play. He's still developing, I think he's still figuring out how to effectively use his size and speed, and will only get better. Just saying that he's a good fit and I don't see them wanting to move him unless the deal is very lop sided in the Oilers favor.

That maybe the case, but I don't see Boston or any team offering a lopsided trade for a guy who played 71% of his 5v5 TOI with McDavid and still didn't light the world on fire. Its a similar situation for DeBrusk. He has more value to Boston than another team and they're not going to just give him away unless they find a deal that helps them win now.

I would agree with that, it's just what it would take not that I think someone will offer a lop sided trade. That's why I don't think he'll move.
I had heard that DeBrusk had issues with Bruce Cassidy but I don't know how true that is, but I think that is driving these rumors, and way more plugged in hockey experts have thrown it out there too.

No, no intention of an insult at all. Just a little sarcastic since we seem to have totally different positions on the players involved. To speak on the topic: I definitely see your point about JP but I also think he will improve and I also liked his style of play without the puck. And because of this opinion I would't want to trade JP for DeBrusk regardless of the picks involed above.

I also think that DeBrusk could bounce back and he's not a bad player by any means, I just prefer JP. Obviously I'm an Oilers fan and you're a Boston fan. Naturally we value 'our guys' differently. smile

Lol You dont even know what JP does on the ice when he is with McDavid. And he still puts up 15 goals, next year expecting 30 once he changes his stick. Debrusk 5 goals, how exciting. Zero goals playing quart 1 with PATRICE BERGERON - BRAD MARCHAND - JAKE DEBRUSK

You have to think if landy is signing less than 7 mil he's definitely getting that offer from colorado and will resign there.

Oleksiak is essentially taking a pay cut here, after moving from a Texas-based, no income tax market to a Massachusetts-based, income tax market. Consensus is that if he's re-signing in Dallas, it's for $3.5M+ per year. Can't imagine that number is LOWER for a team like Boston. For the Bruins (or any team in an Income Tax state) , you're likely looking at $4M+ to get him to sign.

Relax lolll JP isn’t that good. He played with the best player in the league and looked average, he will not get 30 goals next year lol. and debrusk played like 2 games on that top line lol he is just as good as JP. These guys get one small season playing with the MVP and they think they hit gold 😂

He is going to be and was last year a really good player. He is great on the cap and we will keep him. He plays against the best lines in the NHL as well.

Those rumors are more just speculation based on DeBrusk being a scratch a few times and Bruce saying he needs to see more compete out of DeBrusk. Cassidy doesn't usually hold back and has said similar comments about other players in the past. DeBrusk struggling + coaches comments + a healthy scratch here and there = speculation they don't get along.

LOL WTF is quart 1?

Are you really trying to compare DeBrusk in his total of 50 minutes of playing with Bergeron & Marchand (on his off wing which he's never done before this year), to JP playing 552 minutes with McDavid lol. JP has 32 goal in his entire 194 game career. If you're expecting 30 goals out of him next year, you're insanely unrealistic. 20-25 goals and 15-20 assist is a realistic jump in production for JP lol.

Quarter 1, Sorry
Relax lolll

Jp per 82 gp last year would have put up 22 goals in 82 games. Further more this is what happens when Oilers always rush their prospects into the NHL. He will score 30 goals next year, that is only 8 more than last year per 82. This isnt rocket science man. What is Debrusk going to score next year 15 maybe? Dubrusk scored 10 goals per 82 last year, so is it out of reach for him to score 18 or 20? Jp concerns himself on playing defense for McDavid so McDavid can roam whenever. McDavid is terrible defensively

I'm aware of what is 82 game totals would be lol. As for DeBrusk (or any player for that matter), I'd look at his last 3 years of production. Last season he was forced to play his off-wing, was on the COVID protocol twice and admitted he mentally struggled with the isolation required by the NHL. Last year isn't the bar or standard for DeBrusk, it was just a bad season (which players have). Hey also spent a lot of time up and down the line-up, playing with other struggling players like Coyle, Ritchie and Bjork. If I look at his numbers for the last 3 years and put them over 82 games, he's a fringe 25G/20A guy.

Yes Jesse had a bad season in 2018 as well, so everyone is allowed one. Getting sent up and down is hard especially for a 18 year old kid. But he just just turned 23 and has tons of room for growth. Sky is the limit for him though, he can play defense really really well, skate like the wind, big body and can handle the contact. He is exactly what the Oilers need and is learning the PK and maybe next year will get some PP time if the Oilers dont resign Chaisson and buy out Neal.

His '17-'18 season wasn't anything spectacular either lol. I'm honestly not even sure what you're trying to debate me about at this point.

I think it was comparable to Kakko who is going to be a beast and most other rookies playing their first full season. I dont think that fair to say anyways and I will still decline that trade strongly. That is not even a debate.
