Great backup option for the devils to play behind Blackwood. He surprised me quite a bit this season, so let's see if he can keep the ball rolling. Regardless, I think it's great for the Devils to get him on this team friendly deal.
There is no taxi squad next year. Senn has signed in the National League. Brodeur is a free agent.
NHL: Blackwood-(backup)
AHL: Wedgewood
Between Cormier, Daws and Schmid, one is the AHL backup and the two other play in the ECHL. If Cormier does not receive a QO, another spot opens.

Cormier only gets QO for minimum exposure requirements
Daws and Schmid are likely AHL-bound
(and I dont think taxi squad/3rd goalie option is dead yet)

unrelated to the signing and devils goalie depth chart discussion, i think it would be very good if another roster spot was added for a 3rd goalie on every team, sorta like how this past season with the taxi squad. with tandems becoming seemingly more popular each season a 3rd goalie on each team opens up riding hot goalies and giving young guys chances earlier than they might not have had otherwise.

It's an option but some goalies would not play much whether it is at the NHL or AHL level. The past season, at least 14 goalies played >6 games in the NHL/AHL.
6-Troy Grosenick
5-Jon Gillies, Eric Comrie
4-Chris Gibson, Craig Anderson, Louis Domingue
3-Cole Kehler
2-Cory Schneider, Callum Booth, Landon Bow
1-Kasimir Kaskisuo
0-Andrew Hammond, Cam Johnson, Philippe Desrosiers

Wedgewood gets exposed, I doubt Cormier gets a QO, and Senn signed back in Switzerland.
I got Blackwood/ veteran backup. AHL - Wegdewood/ Schmid with Daws going back to the OHL and Brady goes back ASU. With Wedgewood being the veteran presence in the AHL and filling in if Blackwood/ backup gets hurt.
Wedgewood can be exposed so NJ is free to do whatever they want with Cormier.

Of course, Wedgewood counts towards min exposure requirements. Brain-farted that one.
Cormier probably gets cut loose then.
Schmid and Daws both turning pro.
