But nope for philly. Konecny is their best player. I doubt they trade for a random prospect, 2023 fourth rounder and some dude they are willing to expose in the expansion draft…

Had trouble with what the return would be for wood. He is a tremendous player but for 1 year left of his contract his value can't be much more than a top prospect and a pick.

Top prospect? Liljegren isn't a "top prospect" anymore

Abramov is a top 5 leaf prospect and Holl would bolster Phili's defence quite quickly. Leafs may have to throw in a better round draft pick to make it happen.

I would disagree he is still young just can't be fit into the lineup. He is a top prospect from the leafs and would he would get a lot of exposure to play on a team like the Devils.

Holl is decent but not very good. Konecny deserved a first. He’s a good player and the fourth is worth almost nothing. A top 5 prospect in the leafs system isn’t very good…

I think we can agree that it should be a first instead of a fourth but to say Ambramov isn't a good prospect would be an understatement.

They arnt going to have to give up anything to get Seattle to choose kerfoot. If they want a forward they'll take him, if they want a defender it will be holl or dermott

It is moreso to ensure they take Kerfoot and not one of the defencemen that's why I said they probably will but might not.

Just being a top prospect for the Leafs doesn't mean much anymore... Granted he's only 22, but he is far less a sure thing to even be a #4 Dman at this point. Wood is at least an RFA so don't talk as if his value as if he's a UFA....

Liljegren is probably more realistic than Mikheyev, Engvall, etc since he at least addresses Devils needs.

But his progression has been worrisome

2016: Possible top pick in 2017
    2017: Possible #1 d-man
    2018: Possible top-pair
    2019: Possible top-4 d-man
    2020: Possible top-6 d-man
    2021: Possible depth piece

    Ceiling keeps getting lower.

But at least he has NJ roots.
I'd think Toronto adds higher pick though.

Sure, he's a better fit than the others you mentioned, but doesn't make him the main asset in a Wood trade. I'm willing to sell high on Wood, but even from what I think he's worth, he worth more than Liljegren.

Ya I don't disagree, the injury in 2016 dropped his stock drastically but I think he will still develop into a great player. He's played really well in the AHL he just doesn't fit into the leafs lineup right now. If they don't trade him I can see them using his as a top 4 defencemen to play with Muzzin.

Yeah, he totally could still be a top-4 d-man.
Just don't think his stock is as high as his name.

    Absolutely.
Devil fans have seen plenty of aggressive offers for him on here.

If I am putting together Wood-to-Leafs deal, I'm asking for (a) Sandin, and once that is declined, (b) Niemela or Koster and 2nd.

This is a concern, as if he was good enough for most teams, I'd imagine TOR would make use of a ELC to allow them to squeeze by. While NJD could use RHD in the system, I would imagine Liljegren means more to TOR than NJD should be willing to take a chance on a sliding player.

The thing about Wood is, I would need to be overpaid particularly on a prospect as they are less than a sure thing. I'm more than willing to even eat 50% of his salary to get him on a team trying to win now that is up against the cap. Robertson, Amirov, and Sandin are the only guys I would be interested in and I can't see TOR trading any of them. Overall, I'm more likely to send Wood in a trade for a current forward that may be considered getting overpaid but can be someone that fits a role allowing Kuokkanen or Sharangovich to fall to the 3rd line and allow for deeper matchups.

    Absolutely.

When someone says a player is bad or not good, and you say "that's an understatement" it means you believe that player is WORSE than they've suggested. But let's put that aside... The stats of offensive players in the QMJHL should be taken with a grain of salt. And Abramov, who has yet to play in the AHL, only ranked 45th in p/gp in the Q. This package for sure gets beat if the Flyers are making Konecny available.

I wouldn’t ask for Amirov or Robertson for Wood.
Very little chance at those two.
They’d be around Mercer, Foote on our prospects ranks.

Sandin, I’d ask for, but would certainly be declined.

Niemela and Koster, plus a 2nd pick, would be about right in my view.
