I don’t think he’d accept. Blackhawks are trending downwards while in Florida they’re still contending. Plus he’d have a much better team to work with and no state income tax.
I feel like the hawks are closer than people think. Maybe i'm biased because i'm a hawks fan but that's what I think. One year missing the playoffs in a year our captain didn't play a single game is an unfair situation to say we're trending down. We're the youngest team in the league, development of the kids, mainly Dach and Boqvist, along with Toews return and our plethora of cap space and this team can easily make the playoffs next year. Look in the west, Colorado, Winnipeg, Minnesota in the central and Vegas, Edmonton, in the pacific are all better than us on paper, but after that there's no reason we can't be better than the likes of Calgary, St. Louis, Nashville, Dallas who are all trending down as well by your definition. Seattle is a wild card, who knows what they do. Point stands the hawks can easily make the playoffs next year if they stay relativly healthy.
Second of all. 12 mil in Chicago is still more than 9 mil in Tampa. That point is pretty clear. There's atcually an income tax calculator on CF if you want to check it out yourself. 12 mil in Chicago nets Pount about 6.8 million, where 9 million in Tampa is 5.4 mil. About a 1.4 million difference. Is 1.4 million enough to sway him away from Tampa? I have no idea and neigther do you, but theres an argument there for sure. Are we sure Tampa can even afford to pay him 9 mil without really dismanteling that roster? I don't think they can. Sergachev is up a year after that as well. If point declines an OS and takes 9 from tampa, you can go after Sergachev in a year and it will be even harder for tampa to come up with the money.
It's all highly unrealistic but for the sake of discussion tampa would definitely be screwed if teams started coming with Offer Sheets, especially on thier big name players needed extentions the next 2 years. The cap crunch tis year is nothing compared to what tampa has coming in 2022 and 2023.
