Buffalo could do better. There isn't even a first round pick in that package.

Marner has averaged 1.42 points per game over his past 3 years. Simply describing him as "a winger" kinda undervalues what he brings to the table, no? Is Eichel better than Marner? Sure. But I think the difference isn't as huge as people would try to make it seem.

Franchise Level center who has less points and is coming off major injury that who knows how it effects the rest of his Career < Mitch Marner

Marner is definitely > than just "a winger". He plays in all situations, plays solid D, has exceptional vision. I think value-wise this is pretty accurate.

Wasnt trying to devalue Marner at all, hes an elite winger but Eichel has much more value than he does

those two prospects will be nhl regulars + marner isnt just a winger he finished top 4 in scoring this year and put up 94 points the last full season. if Eichel wants out and they want a player whos jersey they will be able to sell and sell tickets with his face on it. this is they guy they would do it for. i dont see Eichel being moved to leafs anyways. they are going to have to give up two of their top 6 prospects and maybe even robertson. the trade dosent make sense for both sides. im just making a point to other leafs fans that marner Eichel 1 for 1 isnt going to happen

If they are lucky they will be NHL regualrs, more likely they become AHLers than NHLers, you are greatly overvaluing these prospects. it isnt NHL 21, every kid with a bit of potential doesnt play in the NHL

if they got desperate enough they would do it for a player on marners level, no team wants to give up their best player for another teams best player that needs surgery done that could affect his play

i dont even play NHL games. SDA tore up the OHL and Abruzzese is a big body centre man who can score goals, take the body and pass the puck

he really isnt. Cant be making up excuses that he needs better players around him, hes supposed to be THE guy. What does Eichel do that Marner doesnt asside from score a handful of goals more a year

I don't really see how you draw that conclusion unless you just simply like the player better. If you look at their stats Marner has more production. I agree that a C carries more value inherently, but Eichel hasn't proven he's a winner and he has yet to play a single game in the playoffs. I think Eichel has talent that has potential to be a franchise centre, but so far hasn't really managed to do that.

Your first claim seems dubious at best. Both are extremely small forwards. SDA has 6 career AHL games and is a pure playmaker. Abruzzese missed the entire season. There’s honestly a better chance that they become the next Braccos than both becoming regulars. They are both guys who are only gonna crack the NHL on a scoring line, and there’s not really a spot for them long term (Robertson-Matthews-Marner Amirov-Tavares-Nylander). Regardless, Buffalo doesn’t consider this. They’ll want a futures package, Marner doesn’t help them more than Eichel would right now, so there’s no point in them trading for him. Especially if the Leafs would try to limit the additions on top of Marner to a collection of expendable, mediocre assets like this.

Plays the most important position on the ice, Eichel has much more value than Marner

Eichel puts up the points he does on the worst team in the league, Marner does on one of the best offensive teams in the league

Even if you put them at the same value outside of positions

Centre>>>Winger

Eichel is easily more valuable than Marner regardless how you look at it

Marner has proved that he cant win when it counts, so that hurts Marner just as much (I'd argue more than Eichel)

If you dont think Eichel is a franchise centre there's no point in continuing this discussion tears of joy

You gotta get to the playoffs before you can disappoint in the playoffs. I think Eichel is elite and I think Marner is elite. However, I think it's unfair to say that Eichel is worth more than Marner + 3 other assets. The difference between the two based on history is that Marner has had better production. The difference in potential slants towards Eichel. Fair?

Abruzzese is our best centre prospect. I wouldn’t say scraps. The package to me seems fair. Buffalo may only be interested in rebuild pieces though.

Wouldn't say that's an accurate description of Abruzzese. Dude's a workhorse. His brain and compete level are the two things that are most often brought up with him. If he makes it, he seems the type of guy that will be able to move up and down the lineup.
