Description
Going with Burnside's comments in The Athletic about a possible fit in Vegas and the general assumption that Monahan or Gaudreau, if not both, are trade bait for Calgary.

Frankly, I'm not concerned with what the future assets that would need to be given up or brought in are - I'm surprisingly really on board with this version of the team and as long as we don't give up McMichael, Protas, Leason, AA, or another 1st, I'd be happy if the team could re-make their center depth with these players. Yes, I know I made this team up, but I was just playing around and I didn't expect salary cap numbers to work out.

Biggest criticism of all this is "why wouldn't Vegas and Calgary trade directly" and... that's an excellent question. Make up your own headcanon for that.

If this happened, I would be pretty happy. Very solid center depth. Dillon and TVR played extremely well together. Biggest thing as you said would be why wouldn't vegas and flames go direct trades - but yeah I think this would work out. And have over $3 mil to work around at the trade deadline if needed

Exactly. 2 cap dumps for 1 2nd round pick. Add at least 1 more 2nd or change the pick to a 1st.

Glad all the Detroit fans are chiming in to show they have no reading comprehension. It's a mindless salary dump. It doesn't have to be both. It doesn't have to be a 2nd round pick. It doesn't have to be Detroit. I could not care less where those two players go or what the return is, or even if there is a return. I'm not putting any mental effort into working out a fair trade deal and the nuanced value of a 6th round draft pick or conditional 7th.

Why not at least try to make it realistic then? What's the point of doing this if you "are not putting any mental effort into working out a fair deal" ?

Adding 8 million dollars of salary for a 2nd round pick is ridiculous. If you don't want the criticism, try to make it realistic 👍

I'll take Hagelin for that 2nd.

Pretty sure this was meant for any team anywhere - as the post says...but good to know Detroit fans are tired of being the cap dumb team of the NHL
