Not getting both picks from oilers. Maybe a 3 and prospect or contract to bury

The trade is fair value not going lower and you going to say there are other goalies on the open a market heard it before just saying don't be surprised if this happens.

Some Sens fans will like that trade, I'm not one of them. They don't need to block their younger players anymore, but the 2nd is enticing.

No it’s clear that you can’t afford Carla move at his price and sorokin on a new deal so you need to move varlamov. There’s no value in giving up multiple picks to help you out of cap issues. Cap space is the most valuable asset this off-season, wait and see, teams needing to dump contracts will have to PAY UP. Even for guys who have performed.

This is not a cap dup Varlamov put up vezina caliber numbers this year, he has two more years on his contract. If the isles don't want to move him they can move Leddy. Varlamov true value is worth a low end first but because there are so many goalies on the open market I lowered it to a second, I also put a third to replace a B prospect. The oilers help is not necessary and all the agms made on Varlamov in the past agree that his value is between a first and one second.

Lol I know you’re not implying that the isles would have to pay to trade varlamov

Costs $666,667 per year for 2 years to get a free 2nd rd pick. Buy him out. Take the pick. Any team with 1.666667 cap space, Ottawa should be one of them, makes that deal.

The Islanders can afford Varlomov at his cap hit. Pretty easily they wouldn't sign Bernier (Saving them 2.5 Mill) and they would sign Sorokin for a shorter term and lesser money (3x3.5). Idk Smith, Koskinen, Stalock don't seem to be cutting it in the net for the Oilers.

Goaltending hasn't been the reason the Oilers have been knocked out in the first round the last few years but it also hasn't won us any games. I'm thinking the reason to go away from a 2nd and a 3rd would be because the Oilers have been trading a lot of picks as of late. I think we'd be more willing to offer one pick and one prospect as opposed to two picks. Varlamov is fully worth his cap hit and 2 years is the right term to be trading for. The price is fair, if not below market value. I'd take a Varlamov/Smith combo next year easy, even if it meant buying out Koskinen or a cap dump scenario to another team.
