After his SB is paid, Marner is only owed $24.8M over the last 4 years of his deal. This is only $6.2 per season, could an owner like Dundon be interested in adding a player like this to save some real money?
It is possible but I doubt the canes will go after marner. Plus, we would need quite a bit of space to extend trocheck and Necas in the coming year among others

Necas would definitely be apart of the return but if they don't sign Dougie they have so much money to work with
Dundon isn’t concerned about spending real money versus cap money. He spends to the cap every year and has taken on bad contracts paying out real money to declining players in return for assets. It’s a tired narrative.
Giving Marner that contract was a mistake even tho he’s a very good player. Makes it difficult to stay flexible and sign secondary pieces around your core. Carolina wouldn’t be interested in taking somebody like Marner on, especially at the cost of really good team controlled players with reasonable cap hits which I assume would be the ask in return.
The cash narrative for the Canes is played out, go talk to a different team about that. Confusing being value conscience vs being only focused on cash is the issue.
You’ve only said why this would be deal due to the cash…what’s the value? I see a hell of a lot of real roster value that would be consumed with Marner’s AAV.

What's the value? Mitch Marner... Heard of him? Probably the most underrated player in the league the way people talk about it him.
