Devils are trying to add d-men, not subtract them

Devils decline

They aren't interested in Meier or his 10M QO. And they aren't trading their best defensemen

I don't really understand the TOR trade...SJ is getting all the better pieces.

Nylander > Kane

Holl > Ferarro (Close in value but Ferarro does have the higher upside...this one is close)

2nd > Merkley

Kane and Nylander on short play are equal but of course Nylander has greater value here being 5 years younger (though Kane's still in his 20s).

Definitely disagree with the last two, especially the Ferraro one. They're not close in value -- Ferraro has top pairing potential as a stud defensive dman. Young, physical, absolute monster fitness and energy level. Holl's good too but comparing the two as borderline equals is not even close.

Merkley is a late 1st value guy. The risk is there for bust but so is the upside for great offensive dman. He's yet to play an NHL game so we'll see. The gamble is definitely worth more than a 2nd rounder though.

Dude, I apologize...not idea why I had NICK Merkley in my head and not Ryan. I definitely take that part back. Admittedly, I don't catch a lot of SJ games so Ferraro is probably better than I am giving him credit for. Appreciate the response!

There just isn't any reality in which Ferraro gets traded.
