HARD pass on Kassian. He's a cap dump AND for 3 years.

Oilers would need to send back a cap dump to land Jones and send Duncs that way. Jones is a huge reason to why Seth would resign with Chicago and his brother. Plus a buy-out of Kassian's contract would not be out of the question. But the thumper line would greatly benefit with him.

And the award for most expensive 4th line goes to...

The Oilers need a cap dump or 50% retention to make a Keith deal work, he's a $3mil dman now. Kassian is a bad contract but cap hit of $3.2AAV isn't that bad to stomach. If a change of scenery doesn't spark him it's a <$1m per year buyout.

I'd rather have Mikko. Sure it's $4.5M, BUT it's during the year in which Shaw is LTIR. Stan wouldn't even buy him out. Just send him down to the minors. IN FACT...once the season starts and Mikko is already down in the minors...it might actually be a cap benefit for a team like TOR to acquire BOTH Shaw and Mikko because A.) Shaw's LTIR accrues and B.) Mikko will already be down in the AHL...so they can have him down there and waiting just in case if he needs to be called up.
