Why Isnt Ottawa Rumoured to be in on Eichel

Created by: hairyberry
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2021
Published: Jul. 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Seems like they have an abundance of good prospects and draft picks, but not enough bona-fide elite prospects, especially at centre. Plus tons of cap space. On paper they sound like the perfect trading partner. Ottawa fans, any reason why not?
Trades
BUF
  1. Bernard-Docker, Jacob
  2. Brown, Logan [RFA Rights]
  3. Norris, Joshua
  4. 2021 1st round pick (OTT)
  5. 2021 2nd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Honestly don't know a ton about Sens prospects so this value could be way off, mostly just wanted to know from Sens fans why they wouldn't be interested.

divisional rivals, OTT not trading core pieces as in Norris and eichel is too risky to give up so much not knowing if he will ever be the same as before his injury, production wise.

Fair enough. Slightly off topic but out of curiosity what do you see as Norris' ceiling if you aren't willing to give him up for Eichel?

Ottawa shouldn’t be giving up guys like Norris and JBD is why, it doesn’t make sense for a rebuilding team to give up their only good young pieces at 2 important positions (C and right handed D). If they’d be willing to go for a collection of guys like Pinto, Brannstrom, Jarventie, Daccord, 10th/38th/41st overall, etc. and get the benefit of not having to take any cap back (Ottawa is one of only a handful of teams for which this is the case, 10mil is a LOT of money) then Ottawa would definitely be in. But like, any of Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Stutzle, Chabot, Sanderson, JBD, Gustavsson, and Sogaard should not be involved from Ottawa’s perspective. It’s a lot of protections for a guy like Eichel I know, but decimating our long term depth via selling the farm to bank on one injured guy who has never sniffed the playoffs isn’t exactly how you build a team from the ground up.

1. Their owner.
2. Their division.
3. Their status in the league.

Because they're smartly staying away from him and the big price tag. And they're growing their team through the draft. At least I hope this is the case.
I'd only want to see them trade for a top RH dman like Jones. Or sign a shutdown guy like Larsson

Seems like they have an abundance of good prospects and draft picks,.............. why should they just hand that over for Jack? They got a good young team and are still building on it.

Why isn't Ottawa listed as a contender for an Eichel trade? Tkachuk, Stützle, Sanderson and Chabot are all untouchable - despite what hockey gurus spout off Sabres have zero pressure to trade Eichel in fact they have tremendous fan pressure not to trade him unless it's a great deal - number 1 thing that would get Sabre fans to quit is a repeat of the ROR trade- most likely Sabre to get traded is Reinhart followed by Oloffson, Risto is a distant third.

He was on pace for 25 goals and 51 points in his 21 y/o rookie year. I'd say a 2-way 30/30 center, pretty good defensively

Your proposal is quite decent in terms of value. Personally, I wouldn't trade Tkachuk best buddy. Norris is going to be a big time key player and "team culture" seems like an important factor they are looking to develop.

Yes Eichel is an elite talent but has 5 years left at 10 M$, which makes him overpaid if he doesn't score at PPG. No margin for error, it's elite or overpaid.

The highest price I am ready to pay is :

- 1st round pick 2021 (10th OA)
- Erik Brannstrom
- Logan Brown
- Joey Daccord
- 2nd round pick in 2021
- Chris Tierney
