I’m seeing his value all over the place right now. What do you think his value is?

You're paying three good players, a prospect, and three decent picks to dump four years of Parise, who has 64 points over the last two seasons, and pick up Tarasenko, who has 24. That could be a one for one.

Kuznetsov has 81 in that span, more than anyone on the WIld except Fiala. Take all the sweeteners out of your Parise for Tarasenko three way and I think you've got a great Kuznetsov offer.

Sorry are you suggesting Parise for Tarasenko 1-1?

I am. They're both paid to score goals. Over the last four years, the old guy has 75 goals. The younger guy with the rumored trade request has 73.

The old guy is owed $10M over four years. The young guy scoring at the slightly slower pace is owed $15M over just two years. So the Blues probably get the same amount of goals for less money, while the Wild get a Russian RW to play opposite Kaprizov instead of a hometown LW stuck behind him.

The sticking point is that if Parise slows down after two years, STL needs to know he'll waive for a rebuilding team at that point, because his 1M salary and 7.5M cap hit the last two years would let an Arizona or an Ottawa spend 6.5M below the floor, but if he's not willing to go there, STL could end up stuck with his cap hit. But the Wild could sell that to Parise as a trade-off: we'll give you two years on a contender if you're willing to let them move your contract after that.

Yeah I mean that an incredible no brainer for MN and an instant no by STL. It’s beyond lopsided.

Over the last two years, Parise got 64 points. Tarasenko got 24.

Over the last two years, Parise scored 32 goals. Tarasenko scored seven.

Age is important but so is consistency, and right now Parise's a more consistent hockey player than Tarasenko. That's without even looking at defense.

Go make a STL armchair GM that has this trade and see how it’s received.

I didn't say any Blues fans would like it. Just that it's fair.

Not even close? You must have a lot of good reasons. Go ahead...

Term, age, and ability. Parise does not have it anymore. Tarasenko carries risk but he has upside. Everyone knows Parises 30 goal seasons are over. Tarasenkos may not be.

I’ll make an ACGM later today and you can see for yourself how horrible of a trade that is.

Look, I know popular opinion is on your side on this one. You don't have to take that beating, either. I'm just pointing out that Parise keeps outscoring Tarasenko because I think Blues fans are talking like they're selling high on him, when what they're trying to do is cut bait.

Yeah I just feel like examining the last two years in this context is the definition of cherry picking to support an argument. Parise has negative value. Tarasenko, while he may not have as much value as Blues fans think, still does have positive value.
