And Tarasenko is a question mark that gets to pick where he goes

Call me crazy, but I’d rather fully healthy Kreider over injured Tarasenko. This isn’t the 5 time 30 goal scorer we’d be getting, he’s literally been hurt the past couple of years with his shoulder a mess. I guess the contract difference makes it more appealing to us long term, but that’s a tough one to swallow in my opinion. Wish Senko never hurt his shoulder.

That's not enough

I agree. That's not crazy at all. It blows my mind seeing fans here giving up real assets for Tarasenko - who has scored just 7 goals in the past 2 seasons combined! He's a MASSIVE risk.

Yeah I’d rather give that up for Cirelli or Lindholm. Not risking Eichel’s injury.

That’s what I’m saying this isn’t mid 20s Senko who potted 30 plus with his eyes closed.

That was incredibly stupid.

I doubt any of them are available tho. Unless Calgary decides to blow it up

He's good right now but the term and AAV in a few years will make him a cap dump.

I understand that. All I’m saying is that I’d actually pay to acquire those guys versus Eichel whose neck is screwed up.

Not crazy at all.. despite popular opinion, Kreids has only had season after season with improvements and a few injuries that really weren’t something to be concerned with. His wage is where it’s supposed to be when you match him to players of similar age and style. He is FAR from a cap dump. Fans who think he is are clueless. Same goes for Trouba, 1M overpaid, sure.. but what he brings is solid.

Seriously, you shave off a little off their contracts and people would love them. It’s kind of upsetting to see.

The aav is meaningless right now. And in 4 years poor teams will want that aav without paying the salary. People think too hard about this stuff while his wage is right there with Andres Lee, Gallagher, Pavelski, JVR, etc. They all play similar games and make a similar wage and they are Kreiders age or older. Now Gallagher plays a far more gritty game and takes way more damage on the body.

8M was when we thought Trouba was the PP1 guy, little did we know we’d end up with Adam Norris to take the spot. How many shots does he block, how many hits does he lay? Those answers might help people see a bigger picture.

JVR and Pavelski don't have many years left so they shouldn't be in that list

I agree with Lee and Gallagher. Their contracts will age poorly

The point is their contracts went till an older age than Kreids is going to.. that’s why it’s important for them to be in the list.. context

Pavelski will be 37 when his contract expires, JVR will be 34, Kreider will be 36 when his contract expires. what is your point?

JVR and Pavelski both don't have as physical of a playing style as Kreider, Gallagher, and Lee and both of Pavelski and JVR have kept a high level of play towards the end of their contracts. There's no guarantee that Kreider, Gallagher, and Lee keep their high level of play, especially with their playing styles

JVR I’d say is just as, if not more physical than Kreids. Kreids just finishes hits, he isn’t out there looking for the biggest hits. Where as a Tom Wilson type player is flying around the ice looking for a big hit and when it’s slightly late he ends up with suspensions. Gallagher is more of the crash and bang type of player. Pavelski is similar to Kreids and JVR where Lee is looking for that big hit.

The risk of 6 more years is significant. A 35 year old who has performed well and has 1 year left doesn't have anywhere near the risk of a 30 year old with 6 more years. Why is this so difficult?
