Description

If teams trade away big cap, and don't want cap return they won't be much of return. Their reward is getting cap space so they sign or resign players they want.
Kings have the cap and number of young centres. Think they would like the impact of Marner now. IMO the following trades and signings make the Leafs as good as last year and certainly in the future.
Marner at 11m plus three 1m signings equal 14m
Goodrow, Hyman, Viladri and Ullmark cost 15m
PS, Smith or whoever can be the 6/7 Dman

This is absolutely horrible. Might be one of the worst Marner trades I've seen - even with his value being low, he's still worth more than a mediocre pick and a good young NHL player..

& then you use your "added cap space" to overpay Hyman and Goodrow and then sign Brendan Smith?! Not to mention signing a backup to double what they're starter is making... woof.
