the second is primarily to eat the ladd contract, isles dont do wahlstrom and bolduc for vlad straight up so you gotta eat some cap. not like the blues cant afford it esp with what theyre getting back. in 2 years you can bridge wahlstrom and essentially be paying the same cause tarasenko will come off the books

Islanders laugh at the trade with St. Louis. No way we do that trade

Also, the Ottawa trade is horrible too. No way we do that.

I want no part of Tarasenko and his high salary and bad shoulder.
Hey if they can do it, why can't we. No seriously, we can off load salary more affectively than that try easily.

Lol wahlstrom is pretty much untouchable and they’re not trading him for damaged goods.

2 seconds for taking 8.5 off your books is a good deal for the isles if you ask me

out of curiosity, whos gonna sit? Lee? he aint no kuch. isles are built very different from the lightning, i wouldnt have confidence in for sure making the playoffs with any key difference maker missing the whole year

No one needs to sit. The isles have multiple players they can trade to free up cap space. Leddy, Eberle, Varlamov..they’re not trading Barzal’s future winger to dump salary and add a washed up Tarasenko

1st of all yes vladdy will come cheap as according to sources, theyve been trying to offload him for a long time and no ones interested, and now he went public with his trade request. So in answer to your question, yes he will come cheap.
As for point 2, clutter probably has positive value, but its somewhere around neutral. Varly has positive value, a whole bunch of it, so that trade is a disaster, maybe worse than the blues trade which is terrible.

Wahlstrom was on pace to score around 24 goals as a 21 year old rookie this season. Playing almost exclusively on the 3rd line with very limited PP time.

oof, proving the point even further. you're paying them to retain as well, because isles cant do the deal otherwise. so no, he wont come cheap cause youll have to outbid a team thats not asking stl to retain. lordy

ok so keep varly, your assertion that a 33 yr old clutterbuck who had 11 in 50 this year carrying a 3.5 mil cap hit has positive value, esp when a cash strapped team holds his rights, is just wrong

Your notion that points decides a players value is just foolish.
