Not a bad offer, but the Flames decline simply because Mangiapane isn’t available

Why is one year of Morgan Rielly worth not only the eighth overall pick in this year's draft, where we might pick up the next Morgan Rielly, but also an A-plus prospect and an A prospect?

Rebuilding teams shouldn't be trading for expensive rentals.

You're over the cap by $1.6MM because no one wants your rejects.

This is the classic, create the team, and then trade the excess cap to the Sens. They don't want your crap. If you want to pretend your trade idea works, trade that excess to Seattle, they don't have enough fans to tell you your player is crap, yet.

Underpay for Marner without a Johnny extension, overpay with it. Not a well thought trade

Even if you got OTT to accept, LAK and CGY for sure decline.

Just shut it, he traded Mikheyev a useful bottom 6 winger for a god damn 5th rnd pick! Ottawa takes that all day everyday

How does Ottawa not accept? That's a shot in the dark that has a less than 10% chance of ever playing an NHL game 2-4 years down the road for an actual NHL player (that 31 teams were happy to sign an offseason ago)

Agree, maybe it could be assumed Rielly came with an extension. As for that pick maybe the next Morgan Rielly highly doubtful in the near future. LA is primed and in a position to control the Pacific and acquiring one of the most consistent offensive dman in the league to fill out the back end is very tempting for LA and should be. But with no extension Rielly for Blake Lizzote and a 2nd rnd pick seems closer to reality

They shouldn't be declining this trade, maybe more negotiation is needed but decline because Mangipane had a great middle 6 winger season is kind of stupid

Triggered much? tears of joy

Mikheyev is being traded because he's not wanted, not because Ottawa needs him. It's just another lame attempt to make a poorly thought out ACGM thread work. Besides, Toronto might need him for their next playoff run. tears of joy

Thanks for your response though, gave me a good laugh

Not sure why you're ignoring the obvious fact that Ottawa could use that pick as a trade piece in any number of trades, so NOT taking this deal doesn't mean they're clinging to that 5th round pick. And, if you look at Ottawa's draft history you'd see they've done quite well with their 4th-7th round picks: Hoffman, Dzingel, Stone, Pageau, Claesson, Borowiecki, Harpur, Batherson, Mandolese, Crookshank...
Mikheyev would be in our bottom 6, and seeing as OTT isn't a playoff team this coming season (realistically) we have no need to block our own prospects who've earned a shot just to pay $2.2M for a guy who scored under 1.3 pts/60. I trust Parker Kelly or Angus Crookshank or RIdly Greig could do better with that ice time.
So it's not a matter of ONLY A 5TH ROUND PICK... it's a simple matter of Mikheyev not being needed.
