WSH
  1. Kostin, Klim
  2. Tarasenko, Vladimir
Additional Details:
Tarasenko ranked 63rd in points by a RW this year. Might be done. Or might bounce back. Trying to value him halfway in between those two possbilities. For the remaining 15M on Tarasenko's contract, the Caps would be lucky to get one good year, even though at his best, he was a lot better than Oshie. So few 40 goal scorers in this league, and to put two Russian ones on the same power play unit could be really cool.
STL
  1. Oshie, T.J.
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
Oshie ranked 11th in points by a RW this year. Has four years left at a reasonable cap hit. Backchecks. Kills penalties. Hits. Wins faceoffs. Can play center. But is old, and for the remaining 16M on his contract, you only expect to get two or three good years.

Oshie is too valuable to the team to lose. It's clear how different the team is when he's playing vs when he isn't

If I’m Bergevin I am not trading Ryan Poehling until I see him getting a shot in the NHL
3C or LW
If Danault is resigned and Ryan doesn’t crack the roster, maybe
But since then, I hope we keep him

Thanks. Certainly open to counter-offers. MTL, NYR, LA, and Minn fans have some interest in Dillon. Just kind of curious what he's worth after a pretty good offensive year, combined with his usual physical/defensive stuff.

Dillon is the same dman we have in Chiarot and Edmundson
We really need an offensive puck-moving dman
Norlinder is too young so we need a guy meanwhile
Dillon isn’t the guy tho

I agree that if Tarasenko doesn't show up in top shape, this could be a huge loss for the Caps. But if he does, then he could equal Oshie, overall, and WSH could score a good forward prospect or two?

Oshie and O'Rielly would be such a great two-way line, just shutting down all opponents, and still each a threat to score thirty goals a year. But that second power play unit, though. smile

That really did not go where I expected it to go from your screen name. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stkfvVOd1-8

Hope Tarasenko gets healthy and has another 30 goal year or two. Great hockey player.

eta: Oshie was on pace for 33g 69p this year. Tarasenko.... wasn't. Could easily bounce back and play as well as Oshie is playing right now, but has a higher salary, higher cap hit, and less term, plus he's hurt right now, so STL adds a decent prospect or another player, I think.

It'd have to be really front-loaded. Like.... 14, 11, 8, 5, 2? Not even sure if that's still legal.

Why would it matter if its really front loaded? Its more of an ego thing for ovi to get paid the most on the team

I don't think he's egotistical. I think he's a perennial Richard front-runner who wants a fair deal.
