Team: 2021-22 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2021
Published: Jul. 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In an ideal situation, Vlasic is forced to retire after suffering a severe case of the hiccups.

Elliot/Korenar could both be backup. Melnichuk might even step up.

Haakanpaa and Savard for more defensive defense.

Gagner and Coleman are very underrated two-way forwards.

Hertl 7.5 x 8 extension

    UFA Rights to Driedger
    FLA
    1. 2022 3rd round pick (SJS)
    Additional Details:
Could be a bit of an overpay but this is assuming we have to outbid 5+ teams who'd want him. This is also assuming he's destined for the open market and Florida doesn't think they can re-sign him.
    2.
    SJS
    1. 2022 2nd round pick (NYR)
    Additional Details:
This is what I honestly think the Rangers would be willing to pay for Donato. He's a 3rd liner who can drive the net and who'd be a great addition to their powerplay. I feel he'd thrive under Gallant's system.
    NYR
    1. Donato, Ryan [RFA Rights]
    3.
    SJS
    1. Neal, James
    Additional Details:
This is a weird one, and I wouldn't be surprised to see comments about it. Couldn't find a way to trade Burns while also shedding cap, so I'm giving him to the Oilers. Might as well free up a roster spot. Edmonton gets the better player, but the longer contract. Conditional pick is there to ensure Edmonton gets a better experience with Burns than Neal.
    EDM
    1. Burns, Brent ($2,250,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
    2022 4th round pick (SJS)*

*If Neal plays in at least 1/3 of SJS games (rounding up) in 2021-22, EDM receives this pick.
    4.
    SJS
      Protection List:

F - Couture, Hertl, Kane, Meier, Labanc, Balcers, Dahlen
      D - Karlsson*, Vlasic*, Simek
      G - Driedger
      SEA
      1. Gambrell, Dylan [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
      Notable Unprotected:

      F - Gambrell, Nieto, Marleau
      D - Meloche, Pateryn
      G - Korenar
      5.
      STL
      1. Meier, Timo
      2. Wiesblatt, Ozzy
      3. 2022 2nd round pick (SJS)
      Additional Details:
I feel like this is a good package for Tarasenko. Meier is a roster player who needs a change of scenery grouped with a solid prospect and a pick to sweeten the deal. Keep in mind Tarasenko's value is low right now because of his shoulder injuries and limited playing time in the past 2 years.
      6.
      SJS
      1. Kerfoot, Alexander
      Additional Details:
      Assuming Kerfoot goes to Seattle
      TOR
      1. Robins, Tristen
      2. 2022 6th round pick (SJS)
      Additional Details:
Robins is a pretty safe prospect who could be anywhere between a 2nd-4th line center. Coupled with a 6th to add a little extra value.

Rangers have multiple (better) wings that need Top 9 spots, they're not giving up a 2nd for Donato.

Probably going to cost more than a 3rd for CD as there are a lot of teams that want him and that’s if the Cats and Krakens don’t have a deal in place to make him the selection.

UFA rights are very cheap, this is more than enough

Not saying it wasn’t enough saying it’s possible they get more. Personally think a deal with Seattle makes sense

Oilers probably would take Burns at that salary and Tippett would be really good for Burns game.
