I can't see the Habs giving up Guhle, but maybe Harris. But after missing most of the last two seasons, is Tarasenko that good? I'd rather take the money saved by not re-signing Tatar and having Drouin on permanent LTIR (I am under no illusions that he'll ever be back as a Hab) and spend it all on two years of Ovechkin. At least you know what you're getting.

Adding Tarasenko makes a ton of sense for the Habs, but I'd be hesitant to move a first to get him. This team barely made the playoffs the last couple years, if this backfires the Habs could end up like Ottawa or San Jose after the Duchene and Karlsson deals.

Beyond that:

Who are you paying the Kraken those picks to protect?

Why are you scratching Kulak, who's better than Edmundson in every way other than having Carey Price play well with him on the ice?

Evolving-hockey's contract projections estimate Danault to command an AAV slightly over 6 million, and I can't really see that moving downwards, given that he was just the 1C on a team that made the finals. EH also only projects Savard to take about 1.6 million, but there are probably better options available: his offense has been declining for the last couple of years and it was abysmal enough last year to cancel out the benefit of his defence.

Why split Danault and Gallagher? They were crazy useful erasing opposing stars last year.

If you think Kulak is better than Edmunston, you never watch a habs game
