no playoffs

Description
Missing the playoffs is a high chance. What they did in the playoffs was amazing and they deserve all the credit. However they have been a meh regular season team. I won't be surprised if that continues. It will be worse since Florida is good now and Ottawa is getting better. The Metro continues to have at least 5 strong teams. (Carolina probably win the Metro, Pittsburgh/Washington not rebuilding yet, Philly supposed to make the playoffs in an even year, Islanders are always there despite not the best regular season record, the Rangers should be better with Gerald Gallant).
Tatar is most likely gone. Danault is a question mark. He will probably be overpaid if Bergvien keeps him. The offence for Danault wasn't there compared to prior seasons. Gallagher had a rough playoffs. Honestly that contract could age bad. He started the season on the second pp unit. Did manage 14 goals, but only 2 goals in the playoffs. KK is a mystery...He'll look amazing in a stretch of games then look like complete trash in another stretch of games. He did play better than last year, but still? The 3rd overall pick from 2018 is still disappointing after a solid rookie season. Drouin has struggled to score goals. 2 goals in 44 games and 1 goal in 10 games in the bubble. Suzuki sucks at face-offs. Corey Perry deserves more than league min. Toffoli won't get to play the Canucks like 9 times. so don't expect another 40-45 goal pace. It showed in the playoffs. Only 5 goals. The Canadiens did struggle with goal scoring in the playoffs. Suzuki was there lead goal scorer with 7 goals in 22 games. They didn't have a legit goal scorer. The defence needs work. Too many mistakes. It's going to be tough.

You didn't watch Ducharmes presser after the Tampa series did you? Weber and Petry both played the entire playoffs with broken fingers. Toffoli played the last 2 series with a pulled groin and Gallagher also had a pulled groin among other injuries (probably still nursing the broken hand as well). They made it to the Stanley cup finals wit their top 2 D men unable shoot the puck with any real authority, their top regular season scorer unable to skate at top speed and their heart and sole playing with multiple injuries. The fact that any of them were able to drag this team so far while injured is amazing. After coming together and battling for each other through the entire playoffs this team grew into a legit contender.

I don't want to take away anything from what they did, it's just that making the playoffs is going to be tough. I'm sure if they did make the 2022 playoffs they would be a contender.

In addition to Campabee's comments; if they can get something for Drouin in terms of value then they will only get better. I'm certain that getting him out of the pressure cooker for Quebec born players is what he needs! Perhaps he is left unprotected and they gain the 5.5 mill in salary when Seattle grabs him, who knows.

I feel like you tried to find every negative thing possible about this team. “Suzuki is bad at face odds” - well he is pretty good at every other aspect. They are bringing in Caufield which is going to help the team. Romanov is getting one year more experienced. They will also make an offseason move to get better. If they bring in one guy maybe a hoffman or Schwartz to help with goal scoring along with Toffoli Caufield Suzuki and Anderson they will definitely be improving. Playoffs will be a battle but I don’t think after going on a playoff run like they did there are that many negative things to say

Edit: forgot to mention MB has been stock piling assets to make moves I would think. Can’t really draft that many times and have a lot of higher end LHD prospects who all obviously would not be able to make the team
