Is this a feasible offer for Seth Jones in the mind of CLB fans?
I have an opinion, but I'm not a Blue Jackets fan.
Does Schwartz (Western Canada kid) take a one year Tyson Barrie like prove it deal to play with 97 or 29?
He might. It depends on what his options are and whether the Oilers are interested in signing another another high-profile player to a show me contract. He could be a great fit playing beside McDavid, or he could continue to struggle.
A few other thoughts.
1. Although I think you have hit the salary range at which Keith may make sense for the Oilers, I seriously doubt the Blackhawks agree to that trade. Duncan Keith still plays a big role in Chicago, and although his stats are terrible, he has perceived value in the Windy City. Stan Bowman will not want to be perceived to have been fleeced by Ken Holland. Frankly, I doubt Holland would want to be perceived to have fleeced Bowman.
2. Adding Schwatz, Hyman, Goodrow, Saad and Perry will make Edmonton a heavier team. That is something they probably need to do in order to improve their chances of success in the playoffs.
3. Linked to my second point, the Kassian trade is simply a cap dump, although the Oilers will likely feel his loss in ways that might surprise many fans.
4. I'd rather see Tippett play McLeod at 4C, than see Holland bring in Glendening. IMO, in comparison to Caleb Jones playing 2LW, there is a much better chance of McLeod at 4C consistently making positive contributions on the ice.
5. The irony of Perry playing for the Oilers would make for a huge story, I am certain of that.
6. Ullmark is probably going to cost >$3M and seek more than a 2-year deal.
7. I believe RNH is now considered a "versatile, complimentary LW", rather than a "cerebral C". His new contract suggests to me that Holland will bring in one more top-6 forward, unless he is presented with a can't lose opportunity (like the Blues gifting the Oilers Tarasenko, some kind of favorable trade for a guy like Sam Reinhart, or some high-end UFA RW begging Ken Holland for a team-friendly deal). Barring those absurd long-shots, I don't see both Schwartz and Hayman in Edmonton next season.
8. I think we can agree that it is far more likely that Caleb Jones will be moved out of Edmonton rather than his older brother being moved to Edmonton.
