If it's on the table, Sabres should do it.

This is why I think the Rangers really are the front runners for Eichel. They can afford to give up what the Sabres are looking for in value. How many other teams have some pretty empty cupboards if they give this up? Rangers give this up and are pretty much unharmed for the future. Plus I just think Eichel would be stoked to be a Ranger.

The cap says hell no. How do we resign Kakko, Miller, Laf and Fox and put a quality team around them?

So we trade all our young guys to make room for one player? That’s how we go nowhere.

Well whether they do or don’t get Eichel they’ll have cap problems in the coming years. Resigning zibanejad, kakko and chityl, fox, shesterkin this year, Miller, laf etc. I mean trades because they can trade a guy like trouba to make cap space, but it’ll be tough.

Yes, that’s my point, we don’t need to compound the problem with a $10 mil Eichel. I wouldn’t be shocked to see them let Mika walk if he wants too much and trade Buch. Flat cap problems.

I think the cap will rise especially with the new tv deals sooner than they’re saying, plus I’d rather have Eichel than zibenijad, even if it means we need to pay 2M more, bc zibenijad will definitely ask for 8+

I’d rather Mika over injured Eichel. If he’s fully healthy, then yes I’d prefer Eichel, but he isn’t. Rather wait and see how he performs once healthy to return than making an overzealous move now.

This approach might end up making the most sense for everyone. Sabres do still have roughly a year before the NMC kicks in. Deal with the neck, play Eichel a bit, trade him. Even after the NMC, Eichel doesn't have that much leverage when if alternative is to be stuck in Buffalo for 4 more years lol.
