Exactly. I think that the plan would be to resign Palat and play him at 2RW the following year once Krejci retires and let Smith/Studnicka take over 2C.

I've never heard of Smith playing C. Would have to be studnicka.

Ya I dunno I just assumed from the C next to the RW under his name on this site. Never seen him do it either tho. It could also be Hertl if this ACGM were to come true.

I’m not really a hertl fan, but this would be pretty awesome.

Sharks would want a little more for hertl and they would probably retain

Ok. Change the second to a first and add a C-level prospect (Quinn Olsen?) and SJS retains 30-50%. What do you think?

Closer for sure. I just think the sharks are going into a full rebuild if they trade hertl so they are going to either want overpay or as much as they can possibly get with retaining

I’m cool with no retention. Keep Olsen and change it back to the second for Hertl as is?

Unless it’s a deadline deal, SJ should be getting a 1st and a good prospect for hertl. Vaakanainen and a conditional 2nd is nowhere close.

Hertl would be absolutely wasted on the third line and the Sharks could get a better deal for him from a team that wants him for their top six. You're not going to get him for a prospect and a second, no way no how.
